Onken Biopot Fat Free Strawberry Yoghurt
Advantages: Fair price, Generous pot size, Tastes delicious, Fat free.
I definitely have a sweet tooth and I always look forward to having something yummy for dessert after a nice meal. I love my cakes and chocolate but I wanted to start watching how many snacks I was eating throughout the day, so went on the hunt for something a little healthier but just as tasty. That is when a friend recommended I take a look at the Onken biopot yoghurts as I was told they are delicious. As I live in a city centre and only stopped in a convenience store, they did not have a huge range of flavours despite Onken providing a wide range. I went for the fat free strawberry flavour as I love strawberries and thought that fat free would be a lot friendlier to my diet, so thought I would take the plunge and buy it.
I personally brought mine from a Tesco Express store, but I can imagine that these yoghurts are stocked in pretty much every supermarket and some convenience stores, and I would recommended picking up some if you ever see them. I have never spotted them before and I'm now glad that I did. I purchased mine for somewhere around the £1.25 mark which I think is quite reasonable as it is a big pot of yoghurt, and these are often on offer throughout various stores. So as far as price is concerned, I was pretty happy.
The pot as you can see is quite nice, it is pale pink in colour and be sure not to confuse it with just the 'strawberry' flavour, as this is the fat free version. There are strawberries all over the top which you have to peel back to get in to the yoghurt. There is also a plastic lid to ensure you get no leakage in to your fridge once open. There is a generous 450 grams in this yoghurt which I feel provides around three or four servings so works out an effective price. When I opened up the yoghurt, the first thing that hit me was the lovely, fruity scent of it. The yoghurt itself is extremely creamy and a pale pink/cream colour. I couldn't wait to get stuck in!
The yoghurt is absolutely delicious I am thankful to say. It is so creamy and yummy and I just can't stop eating this! The texture makes it that little bit better, however it is important to add that there are bits of strawberries within the yoghurt. I am not usually a fan of 'bitty' yoghurts, however this just tastes delicious with the little strawberries bits adding lots of flavour. As far as taste is concerned, this deserves a five star.
There are many different ways that this yoghurt can be eaten, but I personally like to eat it on its own in a dish (or out the pot if I'm being lazy). However, it also tastes delicious accompanied with fruits to make a healthy start to the day as well as a yummy snack. You can really go to town with this yoghurt and eat it with a variety of foods depending on your tastes buds, which makes it much more convenient than buying those little yoghurt pots.
I personally think that the nutritional values are the best thing about this, as it is so tasty but not naughty for your diet. One third of the pot (150 grams) which I would say is a fair serving of this yoghurt only consists of 118 calories and 0.2 grams of fat which is excellent. The only let down is that 19.1 grams are carbohydrates of which sugars. However, on the whole this is excellent I feel as an occasional tasty snack which is much better than sweets and chocolate. Overall, a well recommended yoghurt from Onken! 5 stars.
Summary: Onken delivers great taste in this one.
