I am constantly looking for new ways to enjoy the things I love and save money and I have recently been introduced to the budget chocolate mousses that the big supermarkets sell.
In the past I have purchased aero mousses and other similar ones with 2 or 3 costing around £1 but in Sainsburys you can buy 4 of these 62.5g pots of chocolate mousse for just 25p which I am sure you will agree is a bargain price.
The mousses are in individual pots which can just be snapped off from one another and these are a great size for putting in to a lunchbox. The mousses have a plastic lid on them which you just peel back and then you see the airy chocolate mousse within.
The chocolate mousse is a dark rich chocolate colour and there are lots of tiny airholes in the mousse. The main ingredient in this is milk and although there is just 2% cocoa powder in the product it is very hard to tell as the mousse has a very light, fluffy chocolate taste and texture. The texture is that of an aero or more expensive mousse and it does have a fairly thick, creamy, rich chocolate taste to it. The pot size is just enough to become slightly sickly and anymore would be too much. The quality of this chocolate mousse is quite surprising and I would have expected the mousse to be very average for the small price paid but I think that although there is a tiny amount of chocolate within it works very well and the creamy flavour the cream adds is a welcome addition and really helps to bring the whole thing together.
Each pot contains 94 calories, 11.8g sugars, 3.8g fat, 2.4g saturated fat and just a trace of salt.
Overall the amount of calories in this is not bad at all and it is only the sugar that is a bit of a problem but there is nothing wrong with having a treat now and again and I would rather have one of these than a whole chocolate bar which is far worse.
The quaity of these mousses is brilliant and much better than I expected. I am rating these mousses 5/5 as they are delicious and a huge hit in my house. They seem to sell an identical product in Asda & Tesco as well which is a similar price but I just happened to shop at Sainsburys on this occasion. I would recommend these as they are a great budget cutter!
