Advantages: Really delicious, sweet

Disadvantages: So full of calories

For the last few days I have been devouring this desert with my other half. It is definately a special treat as each small slice holds over 300 calories! For two people it has take about 3 evenings to eat although if we had smaller slices it could have lasted longer.

It was reduced down to £1.77 as it was going out of date but is usually priced at around the £3 mark. The box is dark and has a clear front so you can see what you are buying, the base is kind of like shortbread but a bit mushier. Then on top of the base is a creamy chocolate sauce that is semi set so it doesnt make a huge mess on the plate. You can eat it with cream if your feeling really greedy or just on its own is very tasty.

The chocolate sauce is very rich and more dark chocolate in taste than being really sweet. It melts in your mouth and tastes luxurious! It looks great on the plate and you could improve the presentation with some strawberries or other fruit.

The shortcake base is quite crumbly but manages to stay together even when cut through with a fork.

There is nothing really good for you in this desert so if you are on a diet avoid it. Its a great end to a dinner party and satisfying enough to have a small slice and therefore could last you several days if only sharing between a few of you.

It needs to be kept in the fridge and if near its sell by date then eat up quickly to avoid an upset stomach.

Summary: An excellent treat or dinner party option
