I usually buy these when I visit Sainsbury's. It's a nice thing to have when you sit down after shopping with a cup of coffee or tea. You get 25 in a plastic box and they cost £1.99.
The obvious benefit is that they taste great. It's a soft pastry coated in sugar icing with a toffee taste infused into it. They taste soft when you bite into them and are easy on the palate. Personally, it's hard not to like anything which is constructed like this. It really is a nice easy to eat treat to have.
You also get an ample amount for the price. Most packets of Yum Yum's that I've seen elsewhere are sold in a state where you get four for about £1. Admittedly these are bite size but if you put them together you'd get far more than four and as a result more value for money.
They are also packaged well. It's in a plastic box which is resealable and therefore keeps them fresh. The plastic box can be recycled and it keeps the food fresh for as long as possible.
There are a couple of downsides to these. First of all they aren't very healthy. The sugar content tastes very high and when you taste them you can only imagine the fat content cannot be far off of the same.
The reason I'm being vague as well brings me onto another downside. You get 25 of these in a plastic box and that's pretty much it. The only detail on the box is the price and a description of what's inside. Any writing on the box is too small to read or is broken the minute you open the seal. I think if a separate label was put elsewhere on the box then it would let people know what's inside and what they can expect to consume when they eat them.
The other downside I've found is that Sainsbury's only seem to make a limited amount of these. If you get there too late in the day then you'll be lucky to get hold of them so it's best to go there early if you're planning on getting them.
That said, aside from the small downsides, they taste great and are a wonderful treat to enjoy, at a reasonable price.
We got these on Friday night, as we had family coming over on the Saturday and we wanted some snacks, by some mysterious occurrence though they had all vanished before our guests arrived!
These are freshly baked in store in sainsburys, and they are really tasty. They come in a plastic tub with a lid that you can open and shut, which keeps them fresh. The ones we purchased were reduced to 99p from £1.99 so I personally thought that was a bargain, as I would happily pay full price for these.
I have no idea how these are made or what they are made from, and there are no ingredients on the tub, but the only way I can describe them is little pieces of heaven. They are a sweet pastry covered in soggy, sticky, sweet and lovely icing. Which apparently was toffee flavoured, but it didn't taste much like toffee. They were still nice though. They are very light, I expected them to make me feel sick, but they really didn't, the pastry is very light and fluffy, and not stodgy at all.
I would say that you get about 10 in this tub, but they are quite small, and they are very light, I easily ate two then another couple later on, and my husband polished off the rest! It was surprising how quickly they disappeared.
They do have normal flavoured versions of these, and larger ones that come in packs of 4, I would recommend any of these, as they are all light and fluffy with a sticky sweet icing all over them.
Not great for anyone on a diet I imagine but a great little sweet treat.
