As I work for sainsburys, in the bakery section, I often have to put cakes out etc and check dates. Whilst doing this I came across the new york vanilla cheesecake. I have sampled it before in the bakery and I already knew it would taste great, so decided to buy the entire cheesecake one time for £3.50. It's basically a typical cheesecake - biscuit base with vanilla cheesecake on top. It's very simple looking - no fruit on top or anything like that, so I think to some people, paying such a price for such a simplistic looking dessert would be off putting, however, do not let it put you off! Definitely one for the sweet tooths out there. This cheesecake has a digestive biscuit base that is soft yet crunchier when bitten and the vanilla cheesecake filling is sweet but not overpowering .This is particularly my favourite out of the Sainbury's range of other cheesecakes like the strawberry and lemon flavours that are also available in the refrigerated section of their stores. I fancied cheesecake big time the other day so while I was in Sainsburys I had a look to see what they'd got that was a bit more exciting than the frozen cheesecakes I usually buy. This New York Cheesecake chucked itself into my basket and even though it was quite expensive at about £3.50 I didn't mind paying it because the cheesecake looked delish. It's quite a plain tasting cheesecake and hasn't got fruit or anything on top of it. It's just a biscuit base that has been topped with a thick cheesecake mixture, it's quite big and you can see that the biscuit AND cheesecake are a lot thicker than on cheaper cheesecakes. The small as you open the packet is ... Read the complete review

As touched upon lately in recent reviews, Sainsburys not long ago re-vitalised its dessert range by bringing in new items, discontinuing some others and redesigning the packaging. One of the products that remained, though looking different is the New York Vanilla cheesecake. I don't that often eat cheesecake myself, and if I do it tends to be ones that have appeared in the fridge or freezer, i.e. not chosen by me. They tend to be okay but not something I will go and get specially. Recently, there was a pack of two slices of this cheesecake; you can either get it in one whole cake, or as packs of two individual slices which of course ... Read the complete review
