      Lovely

As touched upon lately in recent reviews, Sainsburys not long ago re-vitalised its dessert range by bringing in new items, discontinuing some others and redesigning the packaging.

One of the products that remained, though looking different is the New York Vanilla cheesecake.

I don't that often eat cheesecake myself, and if I do it tends to be ones that have appeared in the fridge or freezer, i.e. not chosen by me. They tend to be okay but not something I will go and get specially.

Recently, there was a pack of two slices of this cheesecake; you can either get it in one whole cake, or as packs of two individual slices which of course work out more expensive but a whole cheesecake can be a lot to get through unless you have a family dinner or something so this is quite convenient.

Anyway, these cheesecake slices came in a small pretty blue box and inside was a plastic tray with a kind of plastic wrap to keep the slices from falling over.

It doesn't look particularly interesting admittedly. There's no pretty swirls of chocolate or fruity topping but sometimes simple is best.

There is a very thick layer of the cheese and then a thick biscuit layer. The cheese part of the cake was surprisingly good. It seemed to hit the right balance between the cheese and the cream and be quite full and 'thorough', I mean that it had just the right consistency and wasn't too soft or gooey. Some make the mistake of being overly sweet so you feel as if you're eating globs of sugary nothing but the cheese taste was quite noticeable. The soft texture of the cream cheese contrasted with the slight crunch of the biscuit base which was generously portioned.

Better than most cheesecakes I have tasted, despite or perhaps because of, its simplicity.

The only downside of course is that the slices can be quite expensive, around the £1.80 mark I think give or take.

As I work for sainsburys, in the bakery section, I often have to put cakes out etc and check dates. Whilst doing this I came across the new york vanilla cheesecake. I have sampled it before in the bakery and I already knew it would taste great, so decided to buy the entire cheesecake one time for £3.50.

It's basically a typical cheesecake - biscuit base with vanilla cheesecake on top. It's very simple looking - no fruit on top or anything like that, so I think to some people, paying such a price for such a simplistic looking dessert would be off putting, however, do not let it put you off!

As it goes, I am not even one to usually enjoy cheesecake, however there is something different about this one. The vanilla flavour is really strong so for taste, it is great. The texture is just ideal - it is really smooth and the biscuit base is nice and soft too so doesn't crumble too much.

For size, it isn't that big. I guess it could probably serve about 5 people, although if you want a decent serving, most likely three people.

Obviously, it is not the best healthy choice, and has a lot of red on it's colour code chart.

Definitely would recommend though as a treat.

A Yummy Cheesecake But Don't Eat Too Much Or You'll Puke! LOL

I fancied cheesecake big time the other day so while I was in Sainsburys I had a look to see what they'd got that was a bit more exciting than the frozen cheesecakes I usually buy. This New York Cheesecake chucked itself into my basket and even though it was quite expensive at about £3.50 I didn't mind paying it because the cheesecake looked delish.

It's quite a plain tasting cheesecake and hasn't got fruit or anything on top of it. It's just a biscuit base that has been topped with a thick cheesecake mixture, it's quite big and you can see that the biscuit AND cheesecake are a lot thicker than on cheaper cheesecakes. The small as you open the packet is wicked, it's got a proper strong vanilla smell and smells like it's going to be madly sweet. This cheesecake did 4 of us plus I cut a tiny piece off for my 2 year old sister and there was still a good bit left so my mum cut the leftover into cubes so we could just pick at it out of the fridge for the rest of the night.

This is quite a sickly cheesecake so you deffo don't need to cut yourself a massive slice. It's the vanilla flavour and also the way the cheesecake mixture is so rich and sweet tasting that makes it so sickly and even a small piece might be a bit too much for you if you're not mad keen on very sweet things. The biscuit base is mega buttery, it's quite crumbly but holds itself together good even though the cheesecake bit is so soft..... I thought it would be a bit soggy feeling but it's not and even though it's not actually CRUNCHY there is still a nice crumbly texture to it.

Over all I think this is a delish cheesecake. The vanilla flavour of it is quite strong but that isn't overpowering even though it's so sweet, I just LOVE it and will deffo buy it again instead of the cheesecakes I usually buy.

As i said this is one of my favourite desserts and it is well worth buying.

Definitely one for the sweet tooths out there. This cheesecake has a digestive biscuit base that is soft yet crunchier when bitten and the vanilla cheesecake filling is sweet but not overpowering .This is particularly my favourite out of the Sainbury's range of other cheesecakes like the strawberry and lemon flavours that are also available in the refrigerated section of their stores. I like to eat the New York vanilla cheesecake with a touch of double cream over it and for the adventurous people out there, a sprinkling of chocolate chips or even a touch of cinnamon powder or with fresh fruit. Or it can be just eaten on its own which is just as satisfying.

The packaging is a re-sealable plastic dish shaped container for that keep some for later factor and is clearly labelled and with the packaging being see-through you know what you are getting. Don't let the price be off-putting as this can cost anywhere unto £4 but Sainsbury's often have deals on ,with this product being bought for around £2.50 or less.

As with most foods nowadays there is an Allergy advice warning that is clear about what the cheesecake contains I.e. milk, eggs, wheat, gluten so anyone with any intolerances to these should be careful as with any other product they purchase. Also unfortunately nut allergy sufferers are advised not to eat the cheesecake due to way it is manufactured.

The Nutritional Information is also clearly labelled with a very informative and colourful display of the cheesecakes values depending on portion size so for the calorie conscious out there any extra's added with the cheesecake would have to be worked out separately. The Guideline daily amounts for Men, Woman and Children are also printed clearly and are very informative.
