A really yummy dessert, I love them!

Now that we are having a lot of hot summer weather I am spending an increasing amount of time hovering around the chiller sections of my local supermarket checking out all the different desserts on offer. These are a Tesco's own product and are available at the cost of 75p. There is also a strawberry flavour version which I have tried before and really enjoyed. The desserts come in a little plastic pots sealed with a peel-back lid. They come in a multi-pack of 6, and each pot weighs 62.5g. The design is plain and simple but the milky brown colour of the packaging and the chocolate image on the top makes it easy to identify what you're buying. The mousse is a rich medium brown (best described as chocolate!) colour and look nice and smooth. The texture is very light and airy and they have a 'fluffy' feel to them. They melt in your mouth and are best eaten straight from the fridge while they are still chilled, as they tend to go runny if they're left out for too long before serving. They lose their texture very quickly and start to melt down even if taken on short journeys or walking home with the grocery shop! They taste very sweet and very chocolatey, the flavour is strong and rich but does not have that cheap, false taste that you sometimes get with chocolate based products. The creaminess of the mousse along with the lovely light flavour are a great combination, these are becoming another firm favourite of mine - the only problem I now have is it's impossible to choose between the chocolate and strawberry flavour! They are both amazing and I'm really impressed with Tesco doing such a good job here. The desserts were reasonably filling for such a small and light dessert, and I find they're a nice post-breakfast treat in the morning. These are also lovely for dining outdoors in the warm evenings, taking on picnics (in a cold bag!) and would be a nice sweet treat at the end of a meal. Each pot of mousse contains 105 calories and quite a high sugar and fat content. When eaten in moderation as part of a balanced diet this should be fine, and nice as a small treat. These are a really tasty dessert and perfect for a summery snack. They're also a real bargain and I've started buying them every week as part of my usual grocery shop. A lovely product by Tesco that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Give it a go!

Tesco's chocolate mousse comes in a pack of 6 pots. They look quite nice so we couldn't resist. It costs 75 pence so it is really good value for your money. Each pot contains 62.5 g chocolate mousse. The foil on the top of the pots is light brown and there are dark chocolate chunks on it. After opening the pot you can see the medium brown chocolate dessert in it. It is very creamy and light. It has delicious chocolate taste. Well, I know the branded products taste a little bit better but the difference in taste is less then the difference in price. So I think if you are on budget it is worth trying this cheaper version to the branded ones. I found it really delicious and had very nice thick texture. We kept it in the fridge as it was advised and it was a tasty treat after lunch. The ingredients are: Skimmed Milk, Milk Mineral Concentrate, Sugar, Milk Chocolate (8%) (Sugar, Cocoa Mass, Dried Whole Milk, Cocoa Butter, Dried Skimmed Milk), Vegetable Fat Powder (Coconut Oil, Glucose Syrup, Milk Proteins), Fat Reduced Cocoa Powder, Pork Gelatine, Tapioca Starch, Emulsifier (Lactic Acid Esters of Mono- and Di-Glycerides of Fatty Acids), Cream, Natural Flavouring. Nutritional information per pot: Energy: 115kcal Protein: 2.3g Carbohydrate: 15.7g sugars: 12.8g Fat: 4.4g saturates: 3.6g Fibre: 0.7g Sodium: 0.1g To sum up, in chocolate mousse category I would rate it a 4 star product. It is thick and creamy and quite delicious. In price category it gets the 5 stars as it is really cheap. As I mentioned the 6 pots were for 75 pence. I suggest you trying them to see how good they are. Take into consideration that it contains milk. Yummy-yummy.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Won't be buying again, but I have had worse.

Well I ordered this from Tesco (with the intention of reviewing it) and it has just arrived in my grocery order. What better way to sit down to write a review than with a cup of tea and a chocolate mousse? Tesco Chocolate Mousse. 75p for 6. Appearance The packaging is a boring brown/beige colour and features a picture of pieces of chocolate. Not as appetising as the pretty purple packaging of the leading brand, but I'm not one to let the cover ruin my book! The mousse itself rather paler in colour than I expected but it is full to the top of the pot which is a big plus. Smell The mousse smells milky and chocolately, a lot like a chocolate milkshake but lacks a certain richness that I would have liked. Texture A firm dense mousse that actually feels like it has some substance while being light enough so i won't feel like a pig when I have a second one (which I know I will. Well, it IS mostly air after all!) Taste The mousse tastes milky rather than creamy, and is very sweet without having the bitter chocolate richness that others I have tried manage to capture. In fact it is quite sickly and surprisingly I don't actually want a second one... (but for the sake of an accurate review, I will force myself!) The second one actually tastes a little better (though I only get halfway through before reading the nutritional info and putting it down!) and I have certainly had worse chocolate mousse in my time and paid more for them, but I don't think I will buy these again. Nutrition At 115 calories I thought that wasn't too bad until I read on and discovered these contain a whopping 3.6g of saturated fat. This seems quite a lot for a product that is so light and fluffy and I have to say I was pertty shocked. However, after comparing to the leading brand I find this one to be slightly lower in fat so I guess it's not that bad. So I would give this product a detailed rating of Price 4/5 Appearance 3/5 Smell 3/5 Texture 4/5 Taste 3/5 Nutrition 3/5 Giving it a fair average of 3/5
