My parents bought two tubs of this ice cream as a Christmas treat, which is still being eaten into the New Year thanks to the size of the tubs. I absolutely love fudge so the idea of this ice cream flavour was always going to be right up my street. So, how did it measure up in reality?
Deliciously creamy with moreishly sweet morsels of fudge and random wedges of toffee mixed in. It's a tasty combination but a bit sickly in larger doses. I've got a sweet tooth and will rarely turn down sweet treats unless I'm not feeling well but even I can only manage a few relatively small spoonfuls of this ice cream before I start to feel like I've overdone it. For me, this is worth the rather fancy label of 'Tesco Finest' as I don't feel like they've at all skimped on the ingredients and it feels like a good quality ice cream.
The 1 litre tub costs £3.50 but Tesco have been running an offer where you can buy two for £5, which made it much better value.
100g contains: 27g of sugar, 11.9g of fat (7.8g of which is saturated) and 0.1g of salt so it's not the healthiest ice cream you could ever eat.
As you can tell, I really like this ice cream and won't hesitate to buy it again for special occasions. I don't buy ice cream as an everyday food item as my favourite ice cream flavours are the likes of Carte D'or and others that don't come particularly cheap. On normal price, this falls into that category to some extent, although the tub is pretty large and has comfortably served me and my Dad for a generous amount each on five occasions in the time between Christmas and New Year. We're about halfway through the second tub now so you do get a solid amount for your money, even at full price. It still tasted lovely almost a week after being opened so it's not a tub that you need to get eaten as quickly as possible to get your money's worth. All in all, I'm giving a big thumbs-up to this ice cream, especially if you're partial to a very sweet treat.
