      A super cake from Tesco

I was in Tesco's a while ago; as usual looking for cakes/sweets! And I noticed this Madagascan vanilla & apple crumble cake. I thought it looked delicious. I am a great fan of Apple Crumble, which I eat often. I really love Apple Crumbles with a lot of crumble topping and when I saw the topping on this cake I just knew I would love it.

The cake is described as 'a moist sponge with Bramley Apple pieces layered with smooth Madagascan Vanilla butter cream and British Bramley apple jam then topped with a nutty butter crumble'.

The cake certainly lives up to its description. It is lovely. The combinations of the ingredients are amazing. The sponge itself is as described moist; it is perfect in my view. The centre filling is very tasty but what makes this cake extra special to me is the topping. It is crumbly, buttery , sweet and crunchy. I absolutely love the topping; the crunchiness of it goes well with the sponge. I actually ate this cake with cold custard. I often eat cakes with custard; its just the way I like them!

I would recommend if you have never tried eating such a cake with custard that you try it. I think this cake would also be lovely with an ice cream accompaniment or if you prefer it just on its own; then a nice cup of tea would go down well!

Unfortunately as this is one of Tesco's finest range, it is not that cheap, so I probably won't be buying this on a regular basis (unless its on special offer). It costs £2.25. However, as I often say, if you went into a café/restaurant and bought a slice of cake similar to this you would probably pay the same price just for one slice! Therefore in that respect it is good value for money.
