Advantages: Less than 3% fat, taste wonderful

Disadvantages: Only a few bites and one is gone

Although I am currently on a healthy eating plan with the aim of loosing weight I still want to enjoy some nice treats every now and again. This is where the Tesco Light Choices range comes in. I have had these in the past and will again in the future, although I do not buy them that often as they are very moreish and I am the only one who really likes them!

I got a box today, they were 99p for a box of 6 carrot and orange cake slices. Each 30g cake slice contains:

95 calories
1.0g protein
20.6g carbohydrate
13.3g of which sugars
0.7g fat
0.4g saturated fat
a trace of monounsaturates and polyunsaturates
0.6g fibre
0.1g sodium
0.1g salt equivalent

For those of us following the weight watchers diet these cakes are 1.5 points.

They contain milk, wheat, gluten and egg. Recipe is no nuts but they can not guarantee nut free ingredients and factory equipment was previously used to make products containing nuts.

You can find these cakes near the bread and bakery section in Tesco's. They have a range of light choices cakes that (in my local store) are next to the WW equivalent and come out a bit cheaper in this case around 25pence.

Once you open the white box with a picture of the cakes on the front at first you may be a bit disappointed at the size - for some reason they look quite big on the picture but are actually quite small. They are plastic wrapped in a case, not individually wrapped. The white yogurt icing is usually cracked, again unlike the picture on the front.

Does the taste let you down? In my opinion NO!! They are absolutely delicious which is part of the problem with them being fairly small as I usually end up having two at once!

When you take a bite into these lovely little cake slices, you can taste the sweetness of the icing and the lovely carrot and orange. They are really moist and soft and spongy with little pieces of carrot and orange in. They are quite sticky but completely worth the calories!

Summary: Great for a sweet treat but I do not buy them that often as they are very moreish!
