This is a review of the Syrup Sponge Pudding from this brand.

I've gone back onto Weight Watchers after realising I am rapidly putting all my weight back on! So far I've been very good (I only started this morning lol). So when in Tesco this afternoon I thought I'd have a look for something to have after my tea.

I know the Light Choices range always has the Weight Watcher points written on the packaging so this swayed me into hunting down something in this range as it meant it would be quick and easy to assess whether or not I could have it on my diet.

I found these puddings in the same aisle as the custard and rice pudding. I was hoping the find the strawberry version but they only had the Syrup Sponge Puddings so I bought these instead. They cost £1.59 for 2 90g pots.

Cooking these is easy and is similar to products of a similar nature. We chose to microwave ours and they took about 100 seconds each. They can also be steamed. They are easy to cook as they can be cooked in the packaging (less washing up!) When we removed them from the microwave they were piping hot, we squeezed them out of their pots into a bowl.

Firstly, I was quite shocked at how small they were as the pots themselves looked much larger. Each pudding was about 3 inches wide and 1.5 inches tall. They were a golden brown in colour and there was a small serving of syrup to go on top of each.

Biting into the pudding the main thing I noticed was the taste, whilst it was nice it was quite overpowering and the syrup made me feel very thirsty. The sponge itself was quite soft but also quite chewy. The sauce was thick and quite tangy. Together, the ingredients tasted ok but I have to be honest and say I probably wont buy these again unless I cant find another low fat alternative.

Each pudding (90g) contains 245 calories, 21.5g sugar, 2.2g fat (0.5g saturates) and 0.5g salt. They will cost you 3.5 Weight Watchers points.

These were ok but I will not be buying them again. I'm not a big fan of syrup pudding but I didnt think these were anything special. I am keen to try the strawberry version though.

Summary: Ok pudding
