Advantages: Quick, easy, great taste

Disadvantages: None

Tesco delights are packet desserts that contain a flavoured powder which can be mixed with milk to give a sweet and tasty dessert, which can be spooned onto fruit or just eaten on its own.

Tesco delights come in all different flavours; some of the ones I have found are butterscotch, vanilla, strawberry and chocolate.

These desserts are very easy to prepare, pour half a pint of cold semi-skimmed milk into a bowl, sprinkle on the desert powder, mix and whisk thoroughly until the mixture is light and creamy, leave to thicken for 5 minutes and serve.

The mixture is really easy to whisk, in fact I don't own a whisk and use a fork which does the job perfectly for me, once all the powder is mixed into the milk it should already be a little thick before the standing time.

The end results are very good, the flavours are strong and quite sweet but as there is no added sugar the sweetness comes from sweeteners. My particular favourite is the butterscotch pictured above it has a good strong butterscotch flavour and is light and fluffy a bit like a mousse. The chocolate flavour is superb as well; chocolate lovers will not be disappointed.

This is a good product to have a few packets in stock, along with a few tins of fruit then you can make a great tasting dessert quickly. I have a particular favourite way of serving these; I split the angel delight into small dessert glasses and top with low fat custard, and sprinkle on some grated chocolate. The mixture is very light, but solid enough to hold the custard which will not sink into the delight mix but will lie on top nicely.

It does not actually say on the packet how many servings you should get out of the packet, but I find that one packet is enough for two decent servings. There are three in my household and I need two packets.

A serving based on half the packet made with semi-skimmed milk contains 185 calories, 6.5g fat and 4.8g saturates. This product is suitable for vegetarians, and a full list of ingredients is on the packet.

Tesco Flavour delights can be found in Tesco at 28p each for 49g packet.

Summary: Handy to keep in the cupboard
