“ Brand: Tesco / Type: Ice Cream „
My grandson likes a lolly that I usually buy from another supermarket, and I like to stock up with them and I have kept going back to the shop to buy some more, but they have never been in stock, which is quite annoying and I have asked the store to re stock as the lollies they sell are just the right size for my grandson to hold, so while I was shopping in Tesco recently I saw these lollies and thought I would buy them and see if they were nice.
I bought them for £1 for 10 lollies, they come in a cardboard box and each lolly is individually wrapped in a plastic wrapper, and they measure approximately 5 inches, which is a good size, they are 3 different colours, yellow, orange and red, and all 10 are the same colour, some packs of lollies have a different variety of colours in the packs, but this one they are all the same.
My grandson can easily hold the stick with this one, as with some, he tends to drop they because the stick is not long enough at the end, but these are perfectly fine.
The plastic outer wrapper is a very good quality and it does not stick to the lolly as I have found with some other lower priced lollies, this one it can easily be removed and not spoil the lolly itself, which is very good and it saves time trying to unravel the wrapper.
The flavours of the lolly is Pineapple, Orange and Strawberry, they are a good source of vitamin C, as the fruit is a good quality, and they taste delicious and they do not drop off the end when they start to melt, which is good.
They quench my grandsons thirst and he loves them, especially because these are shaped in the design of a rocket and he thinks they are super lol.
I think these are amazing value for the money and they are very good quality too, the flavours when eaten are a nice taste and very apparent when eating because I have tried one myself and as I reached each flavour, I could taste it straight away, and they do not taste at all bland in my opinion.
I would certainly recommend these for anyone to give them a try, as I think they are an amazing price for anyone with young families and for adults too and my hubby also likes the taste and sometimes he can be a little picky with ice lollies but he enjoyed these.
I give them 5 stars.
Thank you for reading my review.
Everyone has heard of and seen and more than likely had a rocket lolly. Now for those who haven't its and ice lolly shaped, yes you guessed it in the silhouette of a rocket. Now that's not all, it has 3 colours all different flavours too. So your in for a treat, the yellow part (the bottom of the rocket) is pineapple flavoured, the middle section is orange and tastes of well orange, the top is red and naturally strawberry.
I used to eat these when I was young so I know they have always sold well, simply because they a) look like rockets, b) they are really nice.
So when summer eventually gets here these come out in force and are sold in great quantities.
Now these lollies will set you back roughly £1.20 but I haven't checked the price recently so this may have gone up or even down, fingers crossed!.
These ice lollies are really refreshing, the strawberry is very fruity and really cools you down. The orange part is also very refreshing and very zesty too. The pineapple is lovely too. Overall a super refreshing lolly that will make you feel cooler and really summery! Kids also go mad for these so if you are having a summer party or have kids buy these and see them disappear for a while with something that's not going to fill them up before dinner and which is super rich in vitamin c. It would take just 2 of these lollies for you to have your daily vitamin c allowance so thats quite good really.
Per serving you will receive the following :
Sugar - 10g
Carbohydrates - 10.9g
Vitamin c - 30mg - Recommended daily allowance is 60 ish.
Energy - 44kcal.
So there you have it rocket lollies which make you, and the kids have a little smile as you remember them from your own youth. Lollies which have goodness in them too and are multicoloured. What else could you ask for from an ice lolly?
A box of lollies I've noticed we've had in the freezer for ages are these rocket lollies from Tesco, there are 10 in a box and they are shaped like rockets and have got 3 different coloured layers with each colour having a different flavour.
The top pointy bit of the rocket is strawberry flavour, the middle is orange and the bottom is pineapple. They look nice but a bit cheap because the lolly looks so solid frozen and shiny.
The flavour is a bit disappointing because even though you can tell the layers are different flavours you can't pick out what fruit it's supposed to be except for the pineapple. The strawberry bit is the most disappointing because its not juicy or fruity at all and once you've given it a couple of sucks it takes most of the flavour out of the ice lolly. The orange is just as boring and tastes dead fake to me, I know these are cheap lollies but I expected the orange flavour to be a bit stronger and more natural.
Like I said, the pineapple bit is the strongest and most natural of all 3 flavours in the lolly but I still wasn't keen. The trouble is that by the time you get to the end of a lolly it should be starting to melt and then it goes more juicy but that doesn't happen with these lollies because they are frozen so solid. The pineapple in the lolly tastes a bit like pineapple cubes but like the strawberry bit as soon as you've sucked it a few times the taste more or less disappears.
I wasn't very impressed with these lollies and I know why they've been in the freezer for so long. They're no good for my 2 year old sister because of them being so hard, they're like solid chunks of ice and there's no nice texture or anything to enjoy. My sister is the main lolly eater in this house so I can't see these getting eaten to be honest.
A box of 10 costs £1.00 so if you like them they're a bit of a bargain. Personally I think they're one of the most boring ice lollies I've ever eaten and I deffo won't be having another one.
Having quite health conscious parents (who decided lollies with no chocolate were the way to go ... hmm) I have eaten a fair few of these over the years and they are quite novel as they are rocket shaped. Aside from the novelty shape, they are a bargain lolly and the quality is that of a bargain lolly. You will pay around £1 for 10 decent sized (58g) lollies.
Most supermarkets have their own version of this product so it is a generic buy nowadays and they are all pretty much the same. I have tried the Tesco ones and the Morrisons ones and the Asda ones and at the end of the day, for 10p for a 58g ice lolly, you are getting a fruit flavoured ice lolly with no ice cream or chocolate.
They are made from a mix of pineapple, orange and strawberry juice, sugar, glucose syrup, Vitamin C, Beetroot red colouring and flavourings/ stabilisers.
Each lolly is 44 calories and there is only a "trace" of fat in each one. As you can buy a solero exotic that has 99 calories, I would rather have the solero if I had to make the choice. These rocket lollies are a light lolly- good after a very rich meal or on a very hot summers day when the idea of icecream doesn't appeal to you.
Most of the time when I have these, I get bored half way through as the lolly is around 90% pineapple. The strawberry tip soon licks off then the orange section is just pineapple lolly coated in orange. You are left with a pineapple ice lolly. For this reason they could be smaller.
They are just a cheaper and healthier version of the ZOOM lollies sold years ago where you got a rocket lolly with some sort of banana costing on the end that you could bite off and a middle section that was also divine. These seem to have taken this receipe, but taken the good part away and made it just a large ice lolly.
I brought these Ice Lollies when we had the week or so of warm weather recently, as I felt in the Ice Lollie moood.
~ MY OPINION ~
I'm not sure about these lollies, yes they are refreshing, great for warm weather and children but, they just don't have a great flavour to them.
As you can tell they are in the shape of a rocket and have 3 different flavours: Strawberry at the top, Orange in the middle and Pineapple at the bottom.
The top layer (strawberry) is red in colour and looks nice and juicy. When I licked it I was left dissapointed as it lacked in flavour. I couldn't taste a strawberry flavour at all, and to be honest I couldn't taste any sort of flavour just a sweet taste. Possibly because it only contains 0.4% of strawberry juice.
The middle layer (orange) again I didn't know what flavour it was. The only way I knew it was orange was because the box stated it and it was orange in colour. There is a flavour to this one, but only if you suck it and then it tastes like the wooden stick.
As you get further down, the flavour improves. You get a very faint orange flavour and also the pineapple.
The bottom layer (pineapple) this is the best layer with the most flavour and juiciness. You can really taste the pineapple, it's lovely and refreshing in the hot weather. The pineapple is just right, not to strong or weak.
Overall the Lollie is nice, but the best part is the bottom. Through out it is juicy but it just lacks alot in flavour.
I opened a lollie and had to do something so I popped it into a cup & covered it up. I went back to it after forgetting I had one and it had melted. Instead of wasting it, I thought I would just drink it, as a slushy drink it tasted great and I found the flavour really improved when mixed together!
~ GDA? ~
Of your guideline daily amount one Lollie (62g) contains:

Suitable for vegetarians.

~ OTHER INFO ~
In the box contains 10 good sized rocket lollies. The whole box is 580ml each Lollie is 58ml.
The best before date is great and lasts just over a year, we brought our box around 3 weeks ago now and the best before date is August 2010.
The box is now different to the picture and instead of it being blue, it's now light yellow. The information is the same and it still has a picture of the lollies on the front.
~ WHERE TO GET THEM & PRICE ~
The only place you can get these is Tesco. And the price is brilliant at just £1! Working out at 10p per lollie, can't get better than that!
The value is great just a shame it doesn't have alot of flavour.
I probably will buy these again. Just to store in the summer incase I feel like a lollie.
