Tesco Toffee Cheesecake
Disadvantages: It is very sweet
I absolutely love a bit of dessert and as I do a lot of shopping in Tesco, when I spotted this at a pound per cheesecake and the photograph on the front of the box looked oh so tempting I decided it had to be very worth a go.
The cheesecake simply comes in a silver foil tray within an orange coloured box and on the front of that box, like I just mentioned there is a photograph of the cheesecake your getting on the front of it and we a are told that it is Tesco Toffee Cheesecake 'A deliciously creamy cheesecake with a digestive biscuit base, topped with a swirl of toffee sauce' and that it contains no artificial preservatives, flavours or colours, that it is suitable for Vegetarians and also suitable for home freezing, there is an at a glance nutritional chart shown, the weight is stated (which in this case is 450g) and that it serves 5 people. Other information listed on the box includes ingredients and allergy advice, there is a full nutritional chart given and contact details for Tesco are listed. Nice enough, informative packaging this is.
The Cheesecake Itself:
What you get is a rather large, round and thick cheesecake, set and not soggy looking with a sweet smell to it that is none descriptive really.
The base is made up of crunchy, moist digestives that are really not too heavily sweetened or crumbly then over that you get a very thick layer of creamy, sweet cheesecake mix with is a light yellow in colour which is simply light and creamy in flavour. The flavour comes from a few rather thick, deep, moist swirls of a caramel toffee which add flavour and pattern to the top of the cheesecake which really does inject toffee flavour to this otherwise rather bland cheesecake.
The toffee is very sweet but really does taste of toffee and all in all this is quite a lovely cheesecake though do be sure before buying this that people eating it really should like sweet desserts!
Easy on the eye, fairly unmessy to eat I rate this highly and what's more it is a freezable product. It tastes great for a bargain price, looks nice on a table and gives 5 decent portions so I can't ask much more from it!
