After filling my face with a totally delcious white chocolate magnum last week when the sun decided to poke it's head out, I decided to relive the experience this week when we had another lovely sunny day. I'd spent the afternoon in a local park with my girls and some of their friends and they had had a lovely time until they reached that brick wall of tiredness that I always fail to see coming.
At this point they turned into moany, grumpy and wingey little mites and my very pregnant form struggled to get them packed up into the car so we could return home. I was really pooped by the time I was driving home but when passing a petrol garage, I decided to pop in and treat myself to another Magnum.
I waddled up to the freezer and was dismayed that they seemed to stock every kind of Magnum except the white chocolate variety. Although many of them sounded delcious and I'm sure I will get round to trying them, in this instance, I had my heart set on the white chocolate one,
Not one to leave empty handed, I decided to go for the closest simple one that was on offer. I opted for Magnum classic - a milk chocolate magnum. I paid £1.40 for this ice cream which is more than most single ice creams but I really believe these indulgent treats are worth every penny.
Back in the car I got stuck into my little piece of relaxation. I needed have been worried about being disappointed. I was unsure about buying what was essentially a posh choc ice but this fabulous ice cream stood on it's own due to it's fantastic flavour.
The milk chocolate was fantastically thick and delivered a really satisfying crack as I bit through it. Underneath, I discovered the creamy and sweet vanilla ice cream which really is glorious. The combination of the two worked brilliantly well together and this resulted in a really luxurious treat.
I savoured every single mouthful and was really quite suprised by how good this relatively simple ice cream was. It ticked all the boxes for me, and while I do enjoy more exotic combinations sometimes simplicity really is the way forward. I will definately be buying more of these over the summer and enjoyed it as much as the white chocolate variety.
Summary: A great simple classic
