I'm never usually drawn in by an advert but the new Magnum Temptation Chocolate advert really caught my eye. Claiming you will receive the royal treatment when you pop your mouth over one of these chocolate luxuries it left me no choice but to give it a try - despite me knowing that Magnums tend to come with a hefty price sticker. Over £1.40 in fact for this tasty treat in my local newsagents, but when I bought it I wasn't bothered I was so wrapped up in this royal treatment hype that I was hoping it would live up to.
I quite like Magnum chocolate and ice creams anyway so I was more than sure that this one would tantalise my tastebuds too.
This ice cream is packaged like no other Magnum - it comes in a box rather than a packet. This to me is charmingly clever - it is meant to be different to all of their other ice creams so to package it in something different too is, whether we like it or not, rather intriguing. Even if you had not seen the adverts you would be more than tempted to try if you spotted this in an ice cream freezer as it is fetching, finer, unique and different. Very clever walls!
The box has a sticker on the side to keep it shut, once this is peeled off your box lid lifts to reveal a significantly small ice cream lolly on a stick. Mmmm! Is it me though or have these things shrunk?! Nevertheless I was more than keen to sink my teeth into one.
On the side of the box it tells us this ice cream has Belgian Dark Chocolate - I'm not a total lover of dark chocolate but I don't mind it and as it is only the chocolate shell thats dark chocolate I figured it probably wouldnt bother me that much. It also says Brownies and White Belgian Chocolate with an appetising picture of each.
This ice cream really has alot to live up to with it's royal adverts and the description alone is just divine- the temptation chocolate magnum is apparently 'Rich milk chocolate ice cream enriched with sumptuous chocolate sauce and an abundance of white chocolate chunks and brownie pieces surrounded in a dark chocolate coating'.
This sounds like one luscious lolly am I right?
You can also buy this in temptation caramel and almonds which again sounds a dream but I havn't tried it yet *sobs*.
But I had this one to try, so does it taste as stunning as it sounds?
Well in one word YES! .. Oh my God YESSSS!
As you sink your teeth into it's crunchy dark chocolate it has a satisfying snap you can't help but cup your hand under your chin to catch any crumbs. No not so you can eat them greedy - no really - this chocolate coating is too thick to crumble though and instead falls invitingly onto your tongue where it melts so smoothly. It has a creaminess to it but not overly so - yet the tangyness that seems to come with dark chocolate I can't taste which makes this all the more special.
Once you have nibbled your way through this TASTY shell your mouth is then greeted by a light chocolate sauce trickling down your tongue. There isn't alot of chocolate sauce - but there is enough - if there was anymore it would probably make the ice cream sickly and extremely messy which many probably wouldn't appreciate lol.
As you scoff through the sauce you are met by a creamy, bubbly textured light chocolate icecream. The ice cream itself is a light brown colour with dark specks within. These dark specks dotted about ae in fact the chocolate brownie pieces. It is a bit of a misleading claim to say there are actual 'Brownies' within these. I wasn't disapointed though I think if this icecream had chunks of brownies as well as the white chocolate chunks it would of been too much to bite into especially as I like to suck and lick my ice cream and devour its palatableness. The brownies instead offer a bitty texture within the ice cream which actually mixes perfectly well to create a bit of zing and excitement.
Your teeth suddenly come to a halt though as they hit something hard. Ooh yes that smooth cube of white chocolate which you can now feast upon. The chunks of smooth white chocolate are a generous size to fit into a small lollipop, and I feel they are spread evenly throughout. It was actually quite a treat digging through the icecream slowly with my tongue to really enjoy the taste and textures and then reaching a chunk of chocolate. That to me is heaven.
Overall the icecream is extremely rich and delectable, and would make a heavenly dessert rather than an ice cream to cool you down on those hot summer sweaty days. Believe me I had one the other day when it was hot and it melted too quickly, it wasn't refeshing and cooling and the chocolate was just too much for such a warm day.
It is ever so satisfying and filling all of these naughty goodies mixed into one dreamy ice cream
I have indulged in a few of these ice creams and I will continue to indulge until my butt explodes if I have too as these are a true pleasureable heaven for me which really hits the spot - my bottomless pit actually has a spot to hit you know!
There is alot of hype which comes with the adverts which lead to my expectations being considerably high - they were met though most definitely.
There is just one downfall - it is too small - in saying that though it is very filling and rich and would probably be way too sickly if any bigger.
I would reccomend trying on these if you havn't already and you enjoy chocolate, icecream and richness all rolled into one very rewarding treat. This is no exaggeration - I love them!
