“ Brand: Weight Watchers / Type: Mousse „
As many of you will know, I am currently on the Weight Watcher's diet. I love my naughty treats and so I was pleased to discover that Weight Watchers do a huge range of low fat 'naughty treats'. I recently tried these Weight Watcher Mousses.
These mousses come in packs of 2. They are available for around £1 in most supermarkets. The mousses come in 'see through pots' so all you have to do is peel back the lid and dive in.
The mousse, especially the vanilla tastes very artificially and fake. It's quite light and creamy yet very sweet and tastes quite 'chemically'. My favourite part of the mousse is definitely the chocolate part. Perhaps the chocolate and vanilla would mix well, rather than having to plough through the vanilla to get to the chocolate.
All in all, these are ok. I mean I don't love them but they are ok as a treat now and again when you fancy something sweet.
Thanks for reading!
Although I'm not following a Weight Watchers plan at the moment, I am attempting to improve my snacking habits and this seems like a reliable brand that has a good variety of low fat and low calorie products. I saw these desserts in Tesco where they are currently available at the cost of £1.18 for a pack.
The desserts come in a cardboard sleeve, and within that there are two individual desserts in plastic pots with a foil sealed lid. Each one is 80g and is the equivalent of 2 Weight Watchers points. You can see the dessert through the plastic packaging and they look very tempting! The design is simple and is easily recognisable as part of the Weight Watchers brand.
Weight Watchers describe this product as "a soft duo of Belgian chocolate and vanilla flavour low fat mousse".
The chocolate desserts are a pale, milky brown colour and have creamy white layer on top. They remind me of the chocolate desserts I used to have in my lunchbox as a kid. They look quite naughty and appealing, so I was interested to give them a try. It is easiest to scoop the top layer off first, and it has a light and fluffy texture with a nice sweet taste of vanilla. When I get down to the chocolate layer, it tastes sweet and rich, but is still very light and not at all sickly. The mousse is delicious and takes on a sticky, gooey texture as you eat it. This has a really good flavour for a diet product. I find Weight Watchers food to be very hit and miss, but this is definitely one of the better products.
The desserts were not really very filling and they seemed to be consumed very quickly. They're not a great snack product, I find that the yoghurts do a better job to stave off my hunger, and they are lower in points value. However, I think this mousse would work well as an after dinner dessert and would be a nice sweet treat at the end of a meal.
One pot of mousse contains 2 points on the Wight Watchers scale, along with 2.3g of fat and 106 calories. This is quite a good deal for us dieting chocoholics! The only catch is that they do not satisfy your hunger, they are just good as a little indulgent reward for sticking to your diet plan.
When I bought the desserts I thought they were a reasonable price considering what they were and similar items available on the market. They taste very nice and I enjoyed eating them, but you only get two desserts per pack and they were not filling enough to keep me going. I don't think they really fit in with my eating habits but I would be prepared to by them again if I saw them at a good price.
