Go to other resort - aitutaki lagoon resort and spa, it had the better beaches by far. The sand bars are amazing and if you get to the edge of the reef and look down it feels like you are at the edge of the world as there is a sheer drop of kilometers. There is one trip in which they take you to 'one foot island' named so as due to a sad story of a fathers love for a son.... wont ruin it for you, but made me cry.... might have been the loved up honeymoon hormones though! The island of Aitutaki is 100% heaven, like something off a bounty advert. This destination was where my husband and i honeymooned and for any one unsure of where to go and money is no object go there. The two main resorts on the island are both top class. We stayed at the pacific resort which was great but the beach and sea was a let down. Go to other resort - aitutaki lagoon resort and spa, it had the better beaches by far. Where do I start with this most stunning Island? Well the flight to Aitutaki is a great experience in itself. Only accessible by a 30 minute plane journey from the main Cook Island of Rarotonga, the plane is small and has approx 30 seats. A cosy and adventerous feel! The views are stunning, especially when Aitutaki is in sight - its lagoon is one of the most spectacular sights I have ever seen, breathtaking! The airport in Aitutaki has to be my favourite ever. It consists of 1 runway (surrounded by the sea) and is just one room. There is one check in desk and no security at all. The airport sign is also made of wood with the words engraved in to it.
