I went on a summer holiday to this lovely little French town several years back and it is truely a gorgeous part of the world. We rented a villa for the week which was on the banks of Lake Annecy (Lac d'Annecy) and had use of a shared pontoon. If I remember correctly, it was around £1500 for the week and the villa was lovely. The main and most beautiful attraction is the lake itself. It is known as one of the cleanest lakes in Europe - the water is so clear and has a very greenish aquamarine colour to it. Annecy is a delightful city in the French Alps, airily modern with a beautiful historic centre. One of the main attractions of Annecy is its breathtaking fresh water lake surrounded by stunning mountains; the second largest lake in France. In summer a lifeguard surveys a swimming area within walking distance of the town centre, making it a lovey place for adults and children alike to enjoy the fresh air, the water and the views. Watersports, including sailing, are also available on the lake, and for those with a few euros to spare cruise boats offer dinner on the lake. The city centre is vibrant and well-heeled.
