Rotorua (New Zealand):
... Rotorua is on the North island of New Zealand almost in the middle about three hours drive from Auckland and six from Wellington. We stayed at the Sudima Hotel right beside Lake Rotorua and as we got off the bus the interesting sulphur smell of Rotorua greeted us. It is quite a strong rotten egg sort of smell that gets in to everywhere. I didn t find it too revolting but others in our group found it very ... Western Australia ... can i say about Western Australia apart from its bloody BEAUTIFUL!! i have travelled all around Aus, been to every corner and major city and although each have their good points, for me Perth and the rest of Western Austrlia won hands down. It is quieter than the other major cities, which gives it that sence of "real australia" and not too touristy! The beaches are some of the most beautiful and it really is breath taking to watch the sun set and rise over the ocean. The town city is cool and has a great night life as well as there being plenty of thing to go and places to eat. If you like wine then that is also the place to go as it has some of the best ... Manly ... moved to manly this week, a north beach suburb of sydney. Manly is its own little world, its got shops, restaurants, bars, clubs, several beaches and loads of community facilities. Firstly theres the manly wharf, you get the ferry here from circular quay for about 6 dollars. Here youl find the tourist information centre, some bars, and lots of little takeaway places to eat including nandos and mcdonalds. Next to the wharf theres a swimming beach which has a protective net, I wouldnt go in here just because its where the ferry comes in and there could be polution. However theres a nice view of the surrounding coastline. If you cross the road, walk up the corso. Theres... Read the full review: Lush beach suburb of sydney by mizzy |

Penrhyn Castle ... wife and myself are both members of the National Trust and paid a visit to Penrhyn Castle a few weeks ago. Firstly the place isnt a castle. It was built in the 1830s to satisfy the vanity of the first Lord Penrhyn, an attempt to give the fellow a veneer of respectability he did not deserve. This chap was a Liverpool merchant who built his fortune on the production of sugar in the West Indies. More accurately he built his fortune on slave labour. As you wander through the rather sombre mock Norman halls you cannot shake off this essential fact. Everything that you see was built on the backs of slave labour. The next owner of this pile, Lord Penrhyn, was a chip of ... Read the full review: A monument to the proposition that evil works pay well by fwsoames |
