Advantages: Stunning coastline and town

Disadvantages: Pricey, weather sometimes a little unpredictable

Well Biarritz is located in the south west of France and is very close to the border with Spain on the Atlantic coast. This geographical context is key in understanding what you are getting with Biarritz. Its proximity to Spain meant that it was used by a wide range of European Royalty to from Empress Eugene to that of Queen Victoria. It is also for this reason that the town is more of an affluent community with the impressive Hotel du Palais which was used for such royalty and is now one of the finest hotels in France, however I was unable to afford it and had to settle for alternative accommodation, nonetheless its worth a look in due to its grandeur. I was fortunate to stay in an apartment of a friends and therefore cannot really offer any valuable information regarding accommodation, however there were numerous amounts of hotels all along the beach and so I am sure you would have a decent enough choice.
The fact that the town is on the Atlantic coast means that the weather is not quite as reliable as that of the Mediterranean locations in the south of France, with a little more rain than you would want for a coastal holiday. However this is not to say that the weather is poor with an average temperature of around 27 degrees in the summer it is still a lovely summer vacation spot. This is shown by the fact that one of the world's most renowned surf competitions takes place here every year. This really adds to the atmosphere and is great for the town as it boosts tourism, with people from as far afield as Australia proving common visitors here, making for a more diverse experience. Furthermore it is a great place for many different groups of people from young families to young groups of friends and school trips, there is something and someone here for all.
The town itself is wonderful with a great French historic aspect to it proving for beautiful sightseeing in the summer, however the coastline cannot be beaten and the effort taken to walk along it and experience the views is well worth it and highly recommended.
On the downside the place is quite expensive to visit, especially now that sterling is performing so badly against the Euro. But to compensate for this flights can be found with Easyjet for as little as £35!
Overall I deem it to be a great summer get away.

Summary: If cheap flights can be found then take advantage of them and go
