Advantages: interesting history

Disadvantages: the weather!

We went to Biarritz for a day trip while we were staying in Vieux Boucau, admittedly it was last year and the weather was pretty awful so we probably didn't see the best of Biarritz.

I can't say that it was spectacular from what I saw, I wish I'd known about this site because I may have tried to visit some of the places on the reviews which looked quite good. We went out on the rock which has a monument (you can't miss it!) that was interesting although a storm was brewing out at sea and we nearly got blown off!!

The buildings although looking grand, looked a bit old fashioned and dated some even a little shabby, but again that could've been the weather.

Because of the rain we decided to vist the aquarium near the rock - it's a no, no!! it was not worth it, there were hardly any fish, it was dark and dingy, the 2nd floor was full of fossils and bones if you like that kind of thing. On the third floor was a nice cafe and next to that a collection of stuffed birds which our girls found more interesting than the aquarium!!! Stuffed birds isn't my kind of thing really! also on the top floor was the tiniest of pools with two seals in, which wasn't nice to see, I felt sorry for them. So all in all I wasn't in favour of this!

We then walked to Biarritz sea front luckily it stayed dry for a while, we were recommended to go to a restaurant just in from the sea front called Le Player's it was well worth it, it overlooks the sea to one side, but the pizza was amazing!!

Unfortunately that was all we had time to see! I would go back to try again but would definitely go on a nice day!

Summary: interesting place, would visit again but not in a hurry!
