Blankenburg (Blankenberge)

Advantages: relaxing Disadvantages: long way to go We stumbled across Blankenburg by accident while traveling along the tram way up from Ostend. This seaside town is is et along a golden sandy beach witha sprinkling of wooden walkways leading down to the sea. Along the sea front are a good selection of bars and restraunts. to enable the local population to do what Belguims do best, eat and drink. On the sunny Sunday afternoon in September when we were there the promanade was busaling with children with there bikes, mums and dads with push chairs, elderly people with there sticks all just walking along enjoying the sunshine. There were any beach front bar selling waffles with a large helping of chocolate. We stopped and had a lovley glass of wine at one which wasn't over priced as you might expect to find in that type of area. Many of the other shops into the town were closed but did look very intresting. We did find a great little Belguim choclate shop that had to buy a few chocies from, well when in Rome. Summary: Great day out |
