Nice beach, great scenery, cute monkeys (Bohol)

Advantages: variety of activities and things to see.

Disadvantages: Not great food on Panglao beach, and boats line the sand.

Bohol is a Philippine destination for those wanting more than just a beautiful beach. Of course it has great beaches and Panglao is the most popular area. It has white sand and clear water, its less busy than the very popular Boracay, and more crowded than the remote Palawan. its a happy medium between the two.
The restaurants aren't great, but you will easily find a good choice. There is just enough going on at night to say the area has nightlife. In the day you can relax on the beach or by the pool, and maybe take a snorkelling boat tour with the opportunity to see dolphins on the way (if you wake up early enough).
Bohol is also home to tiny tarsier monkeys which are cute to see, and the Chocolate Hills (pictured), which are worth a visit. Its easy to arrange a taxi/guide to see the tarsiers, hills, and other attractions the Island has to offer.

Summary: A nice place to visit.
