Advantages: Cheap and relaxing

Disadvantages: None

Budapest is the capital of Hungary and my favourite place in the world.
The river Danube (Duna) runs through it, just like the river Thames runs through London, the difference is that the Danube runs from the North to the South, separating Buda and Pest. Buda is the hilly, posh, western side of the river, Pest is the flat, cheaper, eastern side.
Since Budapest's climate is continental, the summer is really hot (up to 40 degrees!) and the winter is very cold, normally below zero with regular snow.
Budapest is beautiful, especially at night with all the lights on. The view is excellent from any of the bridges, particularly Margit Híd, wich is by a little island called Margit Sziget, that is a charming place to discover, especially for families. For those who like history, Buda Castle is a must. I also recommend having a ride on the chair-lift and on the cog-rail to go up the hill, which are genuine attractions of Budapest.
Budapest is quite cheap, with a wide selection of clothes and shoes. The best shopping centre is Westend City Center by the Western Station called Nyugati Pályaudvar, which is the nearest tube station. Duna Plaza is also a great shopping centre, by the tube station called Gyöngyösi utca.
Budapest has only got three tube lines. The two modern, fast ones are the red and the blue lines. The eldest one is the traditional yellow line, old-fashioned underground train with short stops. It takes you to the Heros' Square (Hősök tere), which is similar to Trafalgar Square, but without the fountains and the crowd. It is surrounded by a huge green park, where you can find the Zoo, the Fun Fair and the skating rink.
Budapest is a city of baths and spas, with curative water coming from underground, full of goodies for those with muscle, or joint problems, back pains, rheumatism, etc.

Summary: Must see
