Advantages: Lively family hotspot
Disadvantages: For those wanting a quiet resort - this is probably not the best place for you !
Cala Millor is a more modern and larger resort on the east coast. Its approx 2 hours transder from the airport - but it is a nice enough journey once off the motorway , there is a nice scenic route.
Most of the east coast is made up of tiny coves, however the beach at Cala Millor is approx 6 km long and is a lovely sheltered beach. This beach is considered to be one of the best on the island - and I have to agree with this too! It has beautiful clear warm waters and slightly sloping sands. You can hire sunbeds and umbrellas at several locations along the beach. There is also a selection of watersports here and a windsurfing school too - which really is good fun!
The resort has a nice selection of beach front shops, restaurants and bars - but unfortunately most do seem to sell the same kind of things...
However, markets are held every Friday near by in Son Servera.
Approx 20 lm inland - you can head towards Manacor - which is home of Mallorcan Pearl Industry
Unfortunately Public transport in the resort is limited, therefore if you are wanting to explore other resorts nearby - you may want to consider car hire - but a word of warning for those that have never drove in Majorca before - be very wary, no one has the right of way, they frequently drive all over the road and speed most of the time! So if its your first time of driving abroad - make sure you have eyes in the back of your head too!!!
Cala Millor is the most lively resorts along the east coast - and has a wide selection of nightclubs, bars & discos. And although Cala Millor is quite lively - its still more suited towards the family tourists rather than the 18 - 30 crowd.
Regular Glass bottom boat trips are offered daily - and they usually take you for a small tour of the coast, with the added bonus of stopping off in the sea - to allow you to jump off the back of the boat to cool off and have a swim for about 30 minutes before heading back to the resort - its a really nice day out for the whole family.
There is a karting track also in resort for older children and adults.
For those that would be interested in a Zoo - there is actually one in the nearby resort of Sa Coma, and a coutesy bus passes through Cala Millor daily. Admission is fairly reasonable and its fun for all the family - however it may be worth planning to do this if the sun is hiding behind the clouds, as there isn't much shade if walking - and there is a plenty of walking to do - however you can choose the minuture train instead to take you around the park.
Also nearby are the famous Caves of Drach - which are absolutely fantastic and a great day out. Admission is good value, approx 9 euros per adult and under 7s are free!
and there is also an aquarium right next to the Caves of Drach too - so you could make a day it.
If i think of anything that I have forgotten I will update my review.
Summary: Lively, fantastic beach, perfect for a fun filled family holiday!
