Booking the holiday ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This was my first self-arranged holiday, and my girlfriend and I used the Thomas Cook website to book our holiday. We visited Fuerteventura between the 31st of August and the 7th of September 2005. It was a package deal, and we saved money by booking online, however, I did have to phone Thomas Cook twice to confirm details/check arrangments etc.. On the whole, it was easy enough. Flights, accomodation, airport-parking and transfers were all included, so there was very little left to worry about. Being a regular visitor to the Canary Islands and staying in hotels i decided to try something different. After several hours on the web i came across Fuerteventura Rentals, this is a newly built townhouse which in fact is a home from home. the owners have provided everything from hairdryers, iron and even a Sony Playstation which comes in handy to keep the kids happy. Imagine a desolate landscape, seemingly devoid of all life. Everywhere you look the scenery stretches away into the distance, red, brown and grey. Welcome to Fuerteventura. Fuerteventura is one of the islands that make up the Canary Isles. It is the next nearest to Africa after Lanzarote. Just off the coast of Morocco and just a sandstorm away from the Sahara Desert, you would expect the temperatures to be oppressive. Not so. The Atlantic Ocean has a welcome moderating effect.
