After the stress of finishing my second year of University last summer and my sister’s somewhat larger stress of completing her AS levels my parents treated us to a week long sun bathing holiday in the Calas de Majorca region of Majorca. We stayed in the Clubhotel Riu Tropicana which is part of the Riu chain of hotels and is situated about 2km from the centre of the resort. Location Calas de Majorca is located in Majorca which is the largest of the three Balearic Islands and is found just off the south east coast of mainland Spain. calas de mallorca is a very small tourist resort situated around 65km from palma (transfers from the airport take around 1 1/2 hours) and 15 km from manacor & felanitx. the season usually starts around beginning of may & finishes around the end of october. for a small town (more like a village in winter, with only 70ish residents) it has around 11 hotels: canarios park, club eurocalas, chihuahuas, mastines, balmoral, maria eugenia, calas park, america, samoa, malaga1 (now selling off apartments at around 48-52,000 euros& not a hotel anymore!), topaz and cala domingos. by way of entertainment, there are plenty of bars to choose from. the most popular ...
