... Dorada is an enclosed resort in Puerto Plata, based in the North of the Dominican Republic. Playa Dorada resort has 15 all inclusive hotels, a shopping plaza, 3 casinos, 5 discos and an 18 hole Robert Trent Jones Golf Course. The Shopping Plaza has over 50 shops including Harrison s, Hemingway s and Pizza Hut. Yes Pizza Hut has even reached the Dominican Republic. The hotels are arranged around the golf course and a few lakes. The 15 hotels range from cheap and tatty to expensive and exclusive like the Casa Colonial Beach and Spa. ... Tar Village is a really nice friendly complex. Set next a beautiful lake with 2 swimming pools, an indoor air conditioned restaurant and a couple of snack bars. The rooms are clean and a reasonable size, air conditioned and most have views over the lake or golf course. The food in the restaurant is very good, always a huge selection of meats, fruit and fresh vegetables. From the hotel its a 2 minute walk to the beach on the Atlantic coast and 5-10 minutes to the beach on the carribean sea, the atlantic generally is rougher and ideal for boogie boarding where the Carribean beach is very quiet and relaxed, the ideal place to relax with a Pina Colada.
