Advantages: Beautiful setting, warm and child friendly pools, friendly staff.
Disadvantages: No baby swings, soft play areas abit scruffy.
We have just returned from a midweek stay at Whinfell Forest in Cumbria. It was great.
We were a little concerned when we received our documentation because our accommodation (3 bed forest lodge) was in Three Oaks which appeared on the edge and along way from the Centre. We therefore hired a mountain bike plus a traditional bike with a Burley trailer for our 3 and 1 year old girls.
We need not have bothered, the walk from the accommodation took about 10 minutes and apart from the steep hill away from the accommodation, it was an easy woodland walk. We did not use the bikes after that.
Accommodation:
(no. 5 three oaks) 3 bed, comfort plus. A nice two story building set in a cluster, plenty of facilities but I would say that the patio area needs some work.
Center Parcs Whinfell:
In the process of being refurbished, pool was great, nice and warm (although lots of steps here and there) nice and clean. Food great prices seem fine.
Play Areas:
Unfortunately no baby swings and the softplay areas need a revamp in some places (especially the Lakeside Inn)and I do wish they did the TV camera thing that they have at Elveden.
A wonderful break had by all. We have been to all UK CenterParcs except Longleat and would recommend this one highly.
Food at the Lakeside Inn was great.
Summary: Relaxing, warm pool, child friendly, beautiful surroundings.

- 08/05/06 Actually I think Serbie has a valid point there! I looked at their prices and found them way too expensive for my family. x |
