Advantages: Plenty to see and do

Disadvantages: Price

I have to say that I have tried a variety of holiday parks in my lifetime including haven and butlins but have to say that I find Center Parcs far better than any of the others on ALL accounts.

****Sherwood Forest****
This particular review is based on our experience at Sherwood Forest resort of Center Parcs which we visited during the school summer holidays last year.

Not having been to Center Parcs but having been recommended it by a number of friends, we thought we would give it a go.

****Booking****
Booking can be done on line at centerparcs.co.uk or by telephone. We booked over the internet and have to say that the website is incredibly easy to navigate and find any information that you require. As a family of five we needed three bedroomed accommodation and after filling in the basic information and dates we required, various options for accommodation were listed.

****Accommodation****
All ranges of accommodation are available from Economy, Economy Plus, Woodland Lodge, Excecutive and Exclusive. We chose Economy Plus because it had a dishwasher, which to me is an essential.

***Breaks available***
Range from 3 days, 4 days and 7 days and prices can vary widely.

****Facilities***
Sherwood Forest is set out within a forest environment with paths and roads leading from the accommodation to the various facilities available. There are excellent children's playgrounds outside and inside which are free to use. There is a subtropical paradise, also completely free, with slides, waves, childrens pools, outside heated pool and tunnels suitable for children and adults alike.

There are a HUGE variety of activities available from the very youngest to the oldest including sporting activities, crafts, outside and indoor activities, bowling, creche, children's clubs, gyms, spas, health club, sauna and the list goes on. However, these are available to book at an extra cost and some activities are quite expensive.

***Restaurants***
Are available throughout Sherwood Forest and include cafes, pancake house, indian restaurant, fast food, italian etc however, be aware prices are quite high but standards are generally good.

***Accommodation****
Was very good, ours was Economy Plus and we had a decent sized and well equiped kitchen and dining area with lounge seating, tv, radio and dvd player. The bathroom had a shower over the bath. The bedrooms were very comfortable with plenty of storage and a tv in the main bedroom.

The cleanliness of the accommodation was excellent and all of the equipment worked and was of a high standard.

***The Park in General****
was easy to navigate and cleanliness throughout was excellent. Most people travel throughout the park on bikes, which can be hired at a cost and there are plenty of bike storage areas.

***Family Friendly****
Sherwood Forest would score a top mark for their family friendliness. Children are welcome everywhere except some activities and in the Aqua Sana. There are toilets, baby changing facilities and a well equipped supermarket on site, free flotation aids in the pools, plenty of family changing areas etc etc

***Verdict****
Excellent holiday overall but can be very expensive!

Summary: Best holiday park I have been to

it is EXPENSIVE i totally agree with you, but for a family of five with three little ones there is so much to do that its worth saving up for ;-) x
