Advantages: so many activities, so little time

Disadvantages: costs of activities

I recently went on a weekend away at the sherwood forest resort and can I just say it was amazing!!!!

All together there were four of us, we stayed in one of the new executive style lodges and it cost around £100 each from Friday to Monday. You will think is a lot of money but the lodge we stayed in was really good we had flat screen tv's in each room as well as en suite bathrooms. You will also find when booking a lodge that prices vary depending on the time on the time of year when you go and what accommodation type you stay in.

We were allowed to check in from 10 am but couldnt go in our rooms until 3 pm. You may think thats quite a long time difference but to be honest theres loads to do there so you are never bored. I would also recommend that you book your activities in advance via the internet or over the telephone. This will prevent disappointment because at peak times activities can be fully booked quite quickly.

Although there are lots of activities to do at centre parcs you will find that it can be quite costly depending on what you want to do, for example: the laser combat costs around £20 per person. This is just one of the activities that we did in our group, it was a fairly good activity, however one of the people in our group had repitive problems with the laser gun he was provided with, the staff were fairly helpful and provided him with another but that too didn't work by this point it was about half through the activity and so they gave him his money back.

It was good that he got his money back; however, it did put a bit of dampner on things because we were looking forward to that activity all weekend and because we booked it for the last day we didn't have an opportunity to do it on another day.

In my opinion the subtropical swimming pool was the best thing at the parc. It's open from 9:30 am until 9:30 pm. It consists of a large indoor pool which has a wave machine in it and also a big water spout which shoots lots of cold water out across the pool and there are also slides one of the best being the Water Cascade, which is a dingy where up to four people can sit and go down the slide in.

There is also a very small pool suitable for toddlers that also has slides, theres a small outdoor pool which has a water fall and slide surrounded by an out door seating area.

The pools are all under one roof and surrounded by rocks, plants and ropes just to give it that tropical feel. The best thing is that the subtropical pool is free to all guests, which is fantastic because you could spend all day there and you wouldn't need to spend a thing. Only £1 is requested as deposit for the lockers, however you get that back on return of the key.

There is also a sports centre that has a gym and sports clothing shop, at the sports centre you can also book activities such as badminton and squash. When booking activities check the prices because sometimes depending on which activity you want to do they charge different prices if it's off peak time.

There is certainly plenty to whether it's sunny or raining outdoor activities include challenge courses and paintballing and indoor activities include glow bowling, snooker and swimming!

I wanted to book another weekend before I left, Ive not had the chance to have so much fun since I was child. I cant wait to go back and do it all again.

Summary: really enjoyable lots of activities but at a cost
