Costly but worth it (Center Parcs)

Last summer I paid my first visit to Center Parcs at Elveden Forest.
The surroundings were incredibly beautiful and relaxing, with an enormous lake on which you can sail or take out a pedalo. The surrounding woodlands have a large number of cycle paths which encircle the lake, allowing you to find peace and solitude just minutes away from the central areas.
In the central area is the main hotel block and the 'dome', in which a variety of shops and resteraunts are located.
The resteraunts range from the quick, cheap fast-food outlet to the more expensive restaraunts with more substantial menus.
The Sheldrake hotel block has a more expensive french resteraunt on its top floor.
The service here is excellent but comes at a price. A meal for two can easily cost over £100. The food is good and the menu is reasonably large. Perhaps the most unique feature of this resteraunt is that it rotates, giving constantly changing views over the lake!
There is an enormous amount to do but be warned that it all comes at a price. Activities include horse riding, clay pigeon shooting, sailing, swimming, archery, ten-pin bowling and exercising in the gym.
A lot of these activities are very popular and have to be pre-booked to ensure you can get a place.

Overall I would say that the resort is excellent. The newly refurbished room we stayed in was excellent, with a large bed, hi-fi and a balcony overlooking the lake.
The downside is that it is all very expensive.
