jayjolynn Holiday Resorts in Cancun: ... is man made and very Cosmopolitan, therefore I was quite dissapointed that I saw nothing Mexican.... to remind me I was in fact in Mexico! It has all your Hard Rock Cafe s etc and plenty nightclubs, and it s so exciting at night, I nearly forgot I was wanting a more relaxing holiday! Even through the day, they have beach parties everywhere! There is no peace! Eating out in the new Cancun, I found to be ex...

118bd Holiday Resorts in Central America in general
... family visits the USA mainly Orlando Florida, at least twice a year. We have stayed in both hotels & villas. The hotels are good if you intend to travel in a party of two, but if there are more than two people traveling, you should consider staying in either a condo or villa. When staying in hotel rooms with more than two people you have no privacy it s a fight to get to the bath room and you feel like a tin of sardines. The rooms are cleaned daily and you are asked if you would like youe bedding/towels changed daily. Most hotels offer a good service, ie; restaruant, bar, games room, outdoor pool and some also offer free shuttle services to the theme parks, we hav...

Filling stations are few and far between, and with this in mind we had come equipped with a road-map that supposedly had them all marked on it. We would be just about dry when we reached the filling station at Playas de Calazajá, where we were due to turn off the main highway. We could then head for the hills with a full tank. What s more, we were in good time to reach Palenque, our next stopping point, by nightfall. Beneath the Pemex canopy at Playas de Calazajá we found nothing but a bl...

... our side of the plane, we can t at first see Cancun as we approach the Mexican coast, only a green swathe of jungle fringing the dark blue sea. Then the plane circles, to bring into view the semi-circle of reef on which the main part of the resort is built. Even so, compared with arriving at a Mediterranean coast, it all looks remarkably unspoilt. Not that it matters at the time to us. We will be heading straight inland without stopping in Cancun. It is almost twilight, and we re late. Five hours late, thanks to a security alert at Charlotte, N Carolina, where we changed planes. This does matter, since it means we will be driving off into the interior in darkness to...
