Advantages: Weather, great food
Disadvantages: It can occasionally rain, although its very rare
I am from Madeira was born and raised there, so i know the island like the back of my hand.
The main attraction of the island is the exoctic plants and the glorious warm weather. Although i warn you now, if you are looking for a beach holiday madeira is not the place to go. It has quite a few beaches but majority of them is pebbles, and let me tell you thats its not comfortable when u lying on them.
If you want a nice exoctic beach, take the boat to the island of Porto Santo. Its a little remote island outside of madeira. Its a true paradise, with gold sand that streches for miles and a clear blue sea.
Madeira has alot of botanical gardens if you like flowers. If you take the cable car to Monte, you will get the chance to visit the Igreja do Monte which is a beautifull church, surronded by enourmous gardens of exocit flowers.
Its def a place you have to visit, you want be disapointed.
Places to visit:
-Santo da Serra
-Ribeiro Frio
-Santana
-Calheta
For me the best place to go is Santo da Serra. Its situated on the high peak of the island near the mountains, its a beautifull place thats surrended by tress and the air is so fresh. It will take ur breath away. Its very cold up there thou, so make sure you wrap up warm.
The portuguese people are really freindly and very approchable. They are so used to tourists that they see you as one of their own.
Summary: Madeira, sun and sea
