Advantages: Level; good entertainment

Disadvantages: noisy; early departure time

Part of the Hoburne group, this is a large campsite near to Swindon. In addition to the touring pitches there are static caravans and wooden lodges, but these are well separated from the touring units. Pitches are all on hard-standing and are very regimented, but when we visited there were quite a few tents and motorhomes which broke the monototy that would have occurred with all the caravans and awnings in line.

There are several toilet and shower blocks all in good condition, and frequent water and waste points. There are two bars, a snack bar, games room, TV and evening entertainment for adults and children. Outside there are tennis courts, a childrens play area and crazy golf. There is also fishing available, but interestingly the people in tourers have to fish in a different lake from those staying in statics.

All pitches have electricity, which is included in the £13 per pitch per night fee, whether you have the facilities to use it or not. One disadvantage of this site for weekenders is that the leaving time of 10am is strictly enforced; at 9:30am I saw wardens knocking on the doors of caravans which we slow to pack up!
