We also went canoeing through the creek system and out to sea with Outback Kayaks, which included a 'drift dive', where you put on a snorkel, tether your canoe to your wrist, and just drift with the current. Because you aren't swimming, you're less likely to disturb the fish, and as you drift over the reefs you get to see some amazing stuff! I too swam with sharks! I stayed in Abaco for ten days last October. Myself and the better half stayed with friends, so I can't give you any tips on hotel accommodation, however, here's a summary of what it's like to holiday there: Weather: Great. It's the Caribbean-duh! Lots of tropical rainstorms also (see below). Hurricane season is between mid-September and March. People: Amazingly friendly. We were staying in a *very* non-tourist area, and probably stood out a mile (the Marsh Harbour population isn't very big either!), but people really do say 'Hi!' in the street, and smile.
