Advantages: Lots to do day and night!

Disadvantages: Don't go there thinking you are going to see a bit of Mexico!

Cancun is man made and very Cosmopolitan, therefore I was quite dissapointed that I saw nothing Mexican.... to remind me I was in fact in Mexico! It has all your 'Hard Rock Cafe's' etc and plenty nightclubs, and it's so exciting at night, I nearly forgot I was wanting a more relaxing holiday! Even through the day, they have beach parties everywhere! There is no peace!

Eating out in the 'new' Cancun, I found to be expensive but if you go into the 'old town' it is cheaper! Drink is not cheap either, and one night in the old town.....we ordered a bottle of wine at a restaurant......we then saw the waiter running down to the local supermarket, buying a bottle for about £5.......then he produced it at our table, and promptly charged us about £25 for that very same bottle!!! So, beware, Cancun does not really cater for the wine drinkers!
Food was good but not too cheap, but again if you stay away from the main resort, and go to the old town.....more reasonable prices are there!

We did the power boat excursion, then went scuba diving off the boat......it was a good day! We also did the island visit, but as explained by someone before, the trip was all about silly games and everyone getting drunk! It also reminded me of an 10-30 outing....not my scene at all....but the Island was nice, with some nice little shops on it, and a beautiful beach which was only spoiled by the reps thumping out loud music!

All in all....if you are 21 - 30 ish, you will love it....if much older....I would give it a pass!

Summary: Lively, hectic, fun....but not for the faint hearted!
