Advantages: nice beaches, lots of activities on offer, very hot
Disadvantages: beggars, quite expensive when we went (poor exchange rate), more for those who like to join in with games etc
We stayed at the Caribbean princess for my honeymoon HOTEL: The hotel was of average standard, the room was OK but the air-conditioning kept breaking over and over The hotel was not on the main strip but was a bus ride away or a shortish walk and backed onto the lagoon The hotel offered canoes but was very scary as just let you go off and there are crocs in the lagoon! The pool was very small, the picture made it look bigger than it was and they did volley ball in it a lot which is ok if you like that kind of thing but not if want to swim or relax (lots of shouting etc) The hotel was not near the beach but had a bus to take you in the morning, was a great beach and had loungers, music and a shop and easy enough to get the bus back FOOD: The food was OK but very repetitive over a 2 week period, very Mexican but no food poisoning CANCUN: very lively at night, clubs etc, not really my scene, there were lots of shops but quite a lot of beggars hanging round near the shops and people trying to sell stuff which I really hate (if say no and they wont give up) ORGANIZED TRIPS: Cheaper to organize them yourself and lots on offer, we went jet skiing on the lagoon / sea edge then snorkeling and that was really good (organized by aquaworld). It followed a set path with a guide, felt very safe, enjoyable, especially as I was not looking forward to it (bit scared of fish) we went on a trip to isla mujeres snorkeing (organized by aquaworld) when you got there, boat ride out and buffet and drinks included at an island beachside please - however the snorkeling was chaotic, very disorganized, did not feel safe, was very rough but went ahead anyway!! The boat ride was unexpected as it turned out it included games etc on the way but this is not my idea of fun - how many bras can you collect etc!! Wanted relaxation not club 18-30 Moonlit meal on a old-fashioned boat (organized by aquaworld)- meal
was very nice and the scenery was great but again had lots of these silly games, great if you like that kind of thing but its not for me! WATERPARK: great lots of fun rides and relaxation areas a great day out but we did not stay a entire day I would say half a day is enough for adults but longer if have kids AQUARIUM: This was really fun you could go in with the dolphins for extra and had sharks etc good for all the family also very informative i.e. about wildlife in the area etc I would recommend Cancun but would say stay nearer to the beach if your after relaxation, was the best place to get it probably most suited to people who enjoy participating in games etc
