Advantages: Value for money
Disadvantages: none that I know of
Seaview holiday park in Weymouth belongs to the Haven chain of resorts. As a child I spent every year at Butlins ( which coincidently are Havens big brother , owned by the same company ). However as an adult when I've been looking around for somewhere to take my own children ( I have four of them for my sins! ) Joseph who's 14 , Declan who's 12 , Caitlin who's 10 and 6 month old Jessica , I've found Butlins just too pricey.
Haven have been a grand alternative. You don't have Red Coats here , you have 'Fun Stars' the staff are overwhelmingly helpful and manage to walk around with a constant smile on their faces.
Weymouth is a beautiful seaside town with a fantastic beach and a well equipt town center. Situated in Dorset there is plenty to offer outside of the resort which is walking distance from town. Some of the local attractions include
Weymouth Sea Life Park & Sanctuary
Weymouth Harbour
Monkey World
This delightful town is home to no less than three Haven resorts , Seaview , Littlesea and Weymouth Bay. All three resorts are close to each other and each offers a slightly different stay , Seaview for example is the quietest of the holiday camps. Weymouth Bay has the most entertainment but if you stay at Seaview you are able to use Weymouth Bays facilities too which is great.
In all camps there are swimming pools both indoor and outdoors, sports facilities and entertainment venues. The clubs in the daytime run activities for children of all different age groups and put on events to keep them happy. In the night time parents and youngsters can go to the indoor venues and have a drink or two whilst watching some live entertainment and the children get to have a dance at the discos put on for them by the ever happy Fun Stars and Rory the Tiger ( I swear the 'tiger dance' song will drive you crazy! ).
The one annoyance for me is the Arcades which you have to walk through to get to the entertainment centre club so there's no avoiding them and which the children found completely addictive , this resulted in me putting my hand in my purse several times an evening! At least you know they cant wander too far though as the site has security staff on all the main doors to keep an eye on things and as a company Haven only allow 'family' groups on these holidays so you're guaranteed not to be caught in the midst of a bunch of drunken yobs ( unless you count us parents! haha )
There are a choice of restaurants at each site offering everything from basic bar snacks to a full menu , however if you just fancy some fish and chips whilst your enjoying your evenings entertainment you can buy those inside the venue and eat them at your table , lovely! Your accomodation is self catering of course and there is a shop on site that offers all the essentials you might needlike bread and milk .There are supermarkets just up the town if you'd prefer to do your own cooking whilst away.
Accommodation is basic but comfortable in the form of mobile style caravans and you can pick a 'standard' through to 'prestige' caravan, although we have always just gone for 'standard' and its been fine. We feel we really don't go on holiday to sit in the accommodation anyway! Regardless of the standard you choose all accommodation comes with
Fully equipped modern kitchen
Shower & Toilet
Colour TV
Pillows & Duvets
Free Gas and electric
Not that I think you would want to or have the time (but who am i to judge?) there is also Wifi internet access everywhere on site including your accommodation. Oh and I should add that should you wish to stay using your own motor home or even in a tent that's OK too!
All in all this is a fantastic value for money holiday. The children are safe and entertained , giving mum and dad a break, its exceptionally reasonable price wise and the website always has lots of last minute offers on. Check them out here www.havenholidays.co.uk
*you can find this review under my name Xonica on Ciao also*
Summary: Plenty to do at a great price.
