The first impression I had was one of wandering through an almost medieval town where all the buildings looked SO old yet oddly well preserved. Then I ...

... is located in the Indian controlled territory of Kashmir and is the region s capital. The city is built in a valley around a very large lake and surrounded by the Himalayan mountains. The lake is the main attarction here, and it s where most backpackers end up staying as it s a great place to relax for a few days on one of the houseboats on the lake that have been converted into floating guesthouses. This is also the place to arrange treks around the Kashmiri Himalayas. ... spent 4.5 months travelling around India. I based myself in Goa and travelled to Kerala (South) and Jodhpur, Jaipur, Udaipur in the North - and various places in between. I have to say that Jodhpur was one of the locations that really stood out for me - and I would go back there again. The locals are friendly and the area has lots of nice things to see and do. We visited the main castle in Jodhpur - you can see for miles around. We then took a tour of the blue city. There were palaces to see and markets to visit, gardens to relax in and the desert to admire. There are lots of lovely places to stay overnight. We spent £3.00 each per day which covered our basic ac...

... or Panjim as it is also known, is the capital of the state of Goa in India. As capitals go, this is small in comparison to london and the like. Yet the city itself is still bussling with lots of activity. It is located relitavley middle on the state of goa s coastal belt. You can get a taxi to the town or a bus, as it is the main interchange for the buses to other parts of Goa and India. The buildings in the city are very old looking and are of Portuguese architecture. They are very pretty looking in many ranges of colours. There is also a big White Church in the centre with many steps cris-crossing leading upto the doors, which is great to sit and admire ...
