JODHPUR
THE SUNCITY

Jodhpur is my home town. I am born and grow here. I completed my senior and higher education from this beautiful city. So I want to present my own view about this city.

*Introduction

Jodhpur is known as suncity and The Blue City also Because of the blue washed houses, mostly near the Fort. It was established in 1459 by great Rao Jodha. This city maintains his recognition as cultural capital of state. The city of Jodhpur is surrounded by 10-km long wall with 8 gates. Here you can see a multitude of palaces, forts, temples and havelis, all celebrating the grandeur of Rajasthan. High court of Rajasthan is situated in this city. Its total area is 22,850 sqm.

In winter days maximum- approx. 22.5º C and minimum- approx 3.2º C

*Suncity's worth seeing sites

1 Mandor

It is 8 km. far from city. It is being capital of ancient kings of Marwar. Mandor's fort is hall museum of god-goddess. Due to one pillar palace, Ajit courtyard, doorsill of Tanapir Baba, Mausoleums, Jain shrine and Vaishnaw shrine, Mandor is signed of communalism unity and architecture. Charming and pretty garden, Nagadari, Pond, Bridge and Panchkund of this forcefully attract the visitors.

2 Balsamand

It is situated on Jodhpur-Mandor way. Its width is 150 feet and length is 1 km. about. It was constructed in 1159 by Parihar Ruler Rao. There is short place middle in Balsamand Lake, which purify the beauty of nature.

3 Kaylana (Takht Sagar)

Kaylana is known as Takht Sagar also. It is main source of water supply arrange now a days for entire Jodhpur city. It was built in king Sar Pratap Singh's time.

4 Umed Palace

Umed Palace of Jodhpur is a unique example of architecture of Marwar in magnificent Palace of Asia. It is known as "Chhitter Palace" due to bright Chhitter stone. Umed palace built in year 1940 in cost of rupees 10 millions 21 lacs under the famine relief programme. There is pretty museum, theatre, dance room and central hall in this palace. Five Star Hotel of Welcome Group is also conducted in a part of Palace.

5 Mehrangarh Fort

Mehrangarh Fort situated on a steep hill. The fort of Jodhpur is obvious view of here architecture art, glorious dignity and folk culture in selected fort of countries. It is high 400 feet from surface. There is tourism place for example- Flower palace, Pearlaceous palace makeup guard and shrine of Chamunda Mother in this fort. Kingfisher, Shambhu arrow, Gajmikhan and other short cannons, which is situated on tower, describes of history.

6 Jaswant Thada

It is situated near the Meharngarh Fort. It is constructed with marble and known as "Tajmahal of Rajasthan". It was built in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh second. There is short garden and pools behind this palace, which is very beautiful.

7 Umed garden & Museum

Umed garden is situated in the middle of city. There is a Zoo in this garden which was established in 1936 by Umed Singh. There different types of animals are kept.
Another are: - Sardar museum and Sumer public library.

8 Shrine

Shrines are: - Rajranchordash ji, Kunjbihari, Achalnath, Teejmata, God Ganesha's and Panchmukhi Balaji's. These shrines are situated in the middle of city. Outside area's shrines situated on hills of Bhoisely, which are: - Mandal Nath, Sidhnath, Jabernath, Jaagnath, Ekling ji, Bhootnath Aadi Siva God-Goddess shrine and Bheem Bhadak.

Bheem Bhadak's bhind a story is that "Bheem made a way under the hill of Bhogisely by his mendicant when Pandavas were passing through this way on their banishment time." Thus there are many shrines of God Sivas and many other God and Goddess. Most of people come here and give something for eat to monkeys because there is several monkeys.

One most popular shrine which is Mother of Sithala situated on pretty hills of Kaga. A fair to be held here in every year's April month.

*Jodhpur's Famous

Handicrafts antiques, Mathaniya's Red chilly and an Indian Leather Pumpshoe are famous in all over countries. There is airlines facility also available for Delhi, Mumbai, Udaipur and Jaipur. This city is well connected by Railway lines and trains are available for all big cities in the country. Jodhpur's Railway station is the best station in Rajasthan.

*The Sadar Market

The Sadar Market near the Clock Tower gives immense shopping pleasure to the locals as well as the visitors. The colourful but hectic bazaar consists of many narrow lanes, lined with tiny shops. Look for the tie & dye textiles, embroidered leather shoes, lacquerware, antiques, carpets and puppets. Here, one can buy exquisite Rajasthani textiles, clay figurines, miniature camels and elephants, marble inlay work and classic silver jewellery

*National Handloom

National Handloom is the unit of Rational Handloom Co. Pvt. Ltd... It is first big department of Jodhpur to everybody for everything. It is most successful in Jodhpur and other cities also of Rajasthan & India. Sojati Gate main market, Sarkit House, Partap Nagar and Sardarpura its 5 big branches in Jodhpur. Here you get full of shopping material in every department. Its punch line attractive everybody that is "Saste Sasto Se Sasta, Acche Accho Se Accha" Its intention that (cheaper than the cheapest, better than the best)

*Reliance Mart

For any type of shopping Reliance Mart is here. Any group of age gets here every thing to buy in Wear, Garments, Kid's Wear, Cosmetics, Electronic, Music CDs & DVDs, Jewellery, Furniture, Grocery, Vegetables etc...

*Vishal Mega Mart

It is store of Young boys & girls Wear, Cosmetics, Garments, Kid's Wear, Cookery, Electronic, Grocery etc...


*Education field

Here's Jai Naraian Vyas University is excellent in education field for Science base. Commerce base and Arts base students. It was established in June 1962. JNVU is providing MBA facility also. It is 'A' graded by 'NAAC'. M.B.M. Engineering College for engineering sector is in this city and for Medical field's students Sampurnanand medical college is here also. Other are: - Polytechnic College, IIT College, Kamla Nehru Girls College and many Pvt Colleges for good education.

Thus this city is best for architecture, higher education and communalism unity.
