Advantages: great if you are a surfer

Disadvantages: Very remote, limited facilities

we stayed at widemouth bay in our touring caravan. Site was VERY steep, not as shown in the photo in the brochure. If you are camping in a tent AVOID this site!!! Poor signage and no directions sent made it hard to find. Not appreciated when you have a people carrier full of kids and a 18ft caravan on the back!. Shower facilities innadequate for number of pitches. Only 6 showers and the line was out the door most mornings. Weather was awful and the poor cleaner was fighting a loosing battle. Nearest town Barnstaple, 36 miles away! Limited attractions in the area, Milky way & big sheep both near Barnstaple, my two teenage boys boared stiff!. Swimming pool facilities non existant, no showers, a closet to change in, no foot wash. Most days was full to capacity and so you had to join the line. Entertainment good for 5-9 year olds. Bar food expensive, reasonable quality. No indoor play area two swings and a climbing frame/ slide outside. On site shop expensive but adequate. Very remote area, Bude has 10pin bowling cost £9.95 each for two games. Indoor soft toy area in same building good value for money. We booked for two weeks but only stayed one and that was too long, will not visit again. Hope this helps you make an informed decision.

Summary: Avoid
