Advantages: Great old town and seafood restaurants

Disadvantages: no beach

We arrived in Korcula by ferry from Split. When you dock in the habour you pull in beside a mixture of fishing boats and big luxury yachts. We stayed for three nights before leaving by ferry for Dubrovnik.
We stayed in an apartment in the old town not far from the main church. The streets all fan out in a slight curve from the main square in order to make the most of the wind which acts as a natural air conditioning unit. We had booked our apartment in advance.
There is a great old town to explore. It is meant to be the birth place of Marco Polo and you can visit his house. One of the entertainment highlights is the traditional sword dance that is performed regularly at night.
We also walked along the coast and there are some lovley rocky little bays to go swimming in.
At night there are lots of restaurants overlooking the sea which all get very busy. The seafood is excellent.
You can also take a ferry to Orebic and spend some time there on their stony beaches.
I would definately go back there.

Summary: Great place to go
