Throughout this review I will refer to the Polish city of Lodz (with apologies - the Polish letter forms do not appear here), pronounced “Woodge” in its English or American form as Lodz. If in Poland you refer to it, and pronounce it as Lodz, or Lodge as I once heard an American commentator on TV, you’ll receive a blank expression – they are unlikely to know where you are talking about! A little while ago I wrote a day trippers guide to Edinburgh, having spent a couple of days there as well as having some previous experience in the Scottish capital.
