Lodz may look like it is pronounced Lodz, but it most certainly isn't. Think of it as Woodge, and three hundred years ago a visit here would have produced the sight of little more than one man and his dog. In terms of age Lodz is one of the youngest cities in the country, and a direct product of the Industrial Revolution.
