Advantages: Good bars, nice beaches, safe.

Disadvantages: Hot in the bars, a bit "chavy"

I worked in Magaluf for four summers so am well placed to review it - the reputation of the area (ie: drunken/"chavy") is reasonabely accurate although it has changed somewhat in the past few years. The area has a main "strip" which is full of bar after bar - most shut at 4am and some have dancefloors as well. Most will also have a PR on the front door who will try to persaude you to come in - a gentle "im meeting my friends in "x" bar" is suffice for them not to hassle you in- but bear in mind if you want to go in a bar they are the best people to take you to the bar as they can give you lots of free things and you can argue for more - most are paid on commission on how many they bring in not how many free things are given so bargain hard, especially if you are in a group of more than four! The bars generally play cheese/commercial but there are four larger clubs of which you pay one fee to go between them and these play all genres - Tokios is excellent for RnB whereas dont go to Carwash unless you want a dodgy foam party! The other main well-known club is BCM - this is expensive but good for dance music - buy your tickets from the BCM girls at Sugar Bar as they are cheapest here! The beach is wide, golden and cleaned every morning. The area is safe and there are numerous restaurants for food... all the way from Ibiza chill-out restaurants to nice Indians!
All in all a cheap and cheerful place....

Summary: Ideal easy/first holiday in the sun.
