Male is a very beautiful place, and indeed all the Maldives are paradise! The airport at Male is somewhat small and perhaps dated, but the security there, is second to none. My case was searched after the security screening showed up something that resembled a gun! I was questioned outright whether I did indeed have a gun inside my case. Well, if I had had, was I going to admit it? Anyway after a search through my case, (very embarrassing with a huge queue forming behind me)they came up with nothing that even resembled a gun, so don't know to this day, how the detector picked up this!
