Newest Review: ... could say 'Au revoir'. The 5-star hotel we were staying in had many a fault but I will go into detail when I write a review on it later on. Ourika Valley and the Atlas Mountains Having booked a car with driver to take us from our hotel to Ourika a 45 minute journey ensued taking us close to the foothills of these monstrous mountains. Ourika is where the indigenous Berber people reside. ... more

... Our driver was very polite and spoke English relatively well (English is enough to get you by in Marrakech but only just - a basic grasp of French helped me a lot). Upon arrival, a tour guide (at a price as usual) showed us around the Berber villages some...more

Marrakesh (Marocco): Marrakech - unique but not for the right reasons (1296 words)

A few days ago I returned from Morocco's infamous city; Marrakech. Located in the heart of Morocco, the acclaimed region has developed a reputation for fusing culture and tradition with modern-day amenities and lifestyle. 1st world conditions and unique experiences...the perfect combination right? Right. Unfortunately Marrakech just didn't have the balance and fell someway short of perfection for me. When your aeroplane (should you travel by air) touches down at Marrakech-Menara Airport you know you have left the West (presuming you're from there). From the landscape consisting of largely red clay walls and buildings to the massive barren areas and the ...  Read the complete review

Camel ride is a must do! (736 words)

Marrakesh is situated in the North East Africa. The city is filled with so much beauty to offer including its famous Souks, The Main Plaza, pretty lights, camel rides and amazing tasting food. Price One thing that has to be mentioned is the cost of getting to, from and around Marrakesh. Me and my friend paid approximately £250.00 for a week staying in a 3 star hotel situated in an ideal location just outside of the Medina but also close to the new town of Marrakesh. This included our return flights from Manchester and a beautiful 3* hotel. The food prices especially in the Souks were so cheap it was unbelievable at times. For example you could get a ...  Read the complete review

Marrakesh (Marocco): Go now! (202 words)

I went to Marrakesh two weeks ago and fell in love with the city - honestly, my friend and I already looked up property prices! (Euro400,000 for a 6 bedroom house). The city is fantastic, the people are incredibly friendly- I thought we might have problems, being two women on our own, but there were no problems. We mostly wandered around the souks, which could entertain me for weeks, bought things and then had tea with the shop keepers who would tell us how Brad Pitt had just bought a similar item when he was there last. We also had a feast every night in the main square, where an hour or so before sunset temporary food kitchens are set up, and the waitors wave you over.  Read the complete review

Magic city (206 words)

I had a great adventure trip in Morocco 2 years ago. We flew with my partner into Marrakesh with a charter flight and had accomodation booked for 4 days and 3 nights. Arriving in Morocco and going straight to Marrakesh is good and bad at the same time. I think ti is good because you find such a great city and it is really magique, I really liked it, also because we were staying in a good hotel. However, on the negative side, I think you miss a bit on the 100% real Morocco, because Marrakesh remains or is a city geared towards tourism. We were there in April, which in my view is a great time to visit. Marrakesh is not far from the Atlas ...  Read the complete review

Marrakesh (Marocco): Just like Indiana Jones (1064 words)

I have always dreamed of exploring the souqs of Marrakesh. It comes from watching too many movies as a kid, I am sure. As with almost every place we have been, Marrakesh is nothing like we imagined! Modern buildings, wide, clean streets, cafes on every corner, saucy young girls dressed in chic little outfits saché down the street. The Ville Nouvelle would be at home in any european city. You would never believe you are in Morocco save the searing heat. Tourism has done this place well. Cafe culture is indeed alive and well. Every day, from 12noon to 4pm, the city shuts down due to the oppresive heat. People go home for ...  Read the complete review
