dangaroo Akko (Israel): ... Jaffa surpassed my expectations as a charming Israeli coastal town, Akko disappointed. Akko is located in the north west of Israel, relatively close to the Lebanese border. It s accessible by train from Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and of course Haifa. Egged bus also ply several routes, connecting the majority of large towns with Akko. I had stayed the night in a northern suburb of Haifa and under-estimated the distan...

Traditionally Jews would not settle there as it was seen as unclean due to the fact a cemetery existed there. Over the years though it became a mixed city, that was until the British rule in the 1900 s when it was part of Palestine - the Arabs and Jews began taking an eye for an eye which culminated in all out war in 1948 and the 49% Arab population being evacuated by the British military in 1949. Today it is very much a Jewish city, although a short desert like landsc...

... spent a week this year in a very weird city, known as Dubai. So whats it like? Its like somebody grabbed a massive chunk of america and morrocco, stuck them in a blender and made it twenty times better. I stopped in the Hilton Jumeriah Hotel by the marina part of dubai, and this area certainly offers the best views available. The marian section, like the rest of the city, is still under heavy construction. Looking out to sea (the artificially manafacutred sea where are the sand has been shipped in from over seas) you can see the construction of the palm islands, which are a group of islands being artificially manafacturated for tourism puroses. There is an amazing va...

... the time came to decide where to go for this years hols Dubai won hands down. I had never been to Dubai but I had always wanted to, especially as the majority of my relatives were already planning their second and third trips there. I started off by doing some research, I had heard that it gets very hot there sometimes with temperatures recahing to 50 degrees and above. So it was the right choice to go there in the month that we did, January. But you will need to take sunscreen along with you no matter when you choose to go. We booked by Emirates airlines, there were no stopovers, we reached to Dubai International Airport in around 7 hours. As soon as we got off ...
