Advantages: Gorgeous beaches and caves

Disadvantages: Grubby town

Mirhleft is another Moroccan coastal town that claims to have captured the heart of Jimi Hendrix! He must have been very stoned at the time because the town itself is just two unpaved streets with very little on either side and an overpowering smell of animals and urine. My guess is that he spent little time in the town itself but most probably at the near by beaches which have superb sand, amazing coves, caves, are very quiet and have ideal sea for surfing.

Getting There
==========

Mirhleft is located between Tiznit (30km) and Sidi Ifni (18km), grand taxis travel from both places and it's extremely easy to hitch between either places, you may be expected to pay though. Tiznit is connected to just about everywhere in Morocco from Casablanca, Marrakech, Agadir, Taffraoute to as far south as the Mauritanian border.

Places to Stay
==========

A few choices, starting from the Grand Taxis car park:

Turn right at the end of the car park and follow the signs for Camping/Auberge, follow the road across the barren field full of rubbish and you will come to a nice little Auberge on the right. You can rent rooms here or continue down the street, turn left and follow the path down to the beach. There are two hotels right by the sea and we paid about 7 pounds for the room. There was no electricity at night but I think that will be fixed by the summer time. If not, there are still plenty of candles and it's not really a problem.

Alternatively you could stay in the thick of stink city, which despite having the setback of being a walk away from the beach and in the core of reekville is close to amenities such as restaurants, internet cafes and shops. We ate at the best looking restaurant on the main street, this wasn't expensive and was a beautiful building inside, I can't remember the name of it but you will find it for sure as it really stands out. Alcohol is also available here.

Beaches
======

Walk along the coast in the direction of Sidi Ifni and you will soon find all the wonderful beaches! This is the reason you came here and they are some of the most untouched and beautiful beaches in North Africa.
